The mechanic i bought my boat into told me the rings on cylinders 2 and 3 were going bad. He also told me he said he doesn't have the time to do the work.

so this brings up some important questions.

1. should i have the engine repaired?
2. should i just swap it out with a rebuilt?
3. i hear mixed things on SBT, but for $3500 i can get a brand new engine and head or $2300 for a rebuilt one. this is about 7k less then the dealer wanted, so might be worth the risk. with that said, i have no experience with SBT, so i can only go by what i read from forums.
4. how hard is it to swap the entire thing out?
5. does anyone have a doc or video on the process

Being an AR210 you have non HO engines.

My first option would be to look for a ski with the same engine then swap.

I would put a little oil in each cylinder and do a compression check to determine if rings are necessary. The service manual is indispensable.
