Interior Gel Coat Splitting

Noticed a crack in the gel coat in the interior today around the port side dash that just appeared. Digging around the forums it sounds like these are pretty common. Anyone have recommendations for a specific gel coat repair kit for the white gel coat? Doesn’t appear that something made contact with it to cause the split but could be possible.

Spoke to a repair shop, they stated that the fiberglass hull flexes quite a bit during impact with rough water and the gel coat could have cracked due to being improperly adhered to the fiberglass from the factory. I looked from inside of the port side helm storage and the fiberglass looked perfect. No damaged seen on the port side or bottom of the boat.
