Patoka Lake Floating Cabins

The family and I are heading to Patoka Lake next week and staying in the floating cabins. Any advice on where to go while we are there? Any must dos? Thanks in advance.

Crap!! I just now saw your post. We live in Taswell, IN & boat all the time on Patoka Lake. Love it. I teach school in French Lick at Springs Valley. If you come back, go see the hotels. French Lick Resort & West Baden Dome. Absolutely stunning!! We have the casino too. Be sure to eat at Miguel’s in West Baden. Get the chicken fajitas. Best you will have. We have a go-cart track too in West Baden.

Kelly’s in Celestine has the best pizza you can eat. Short trip from the floating cabins. Plenty of places to eat in French Lick & West Baden.

Hi Darren,
I appreciate the follow up on this. We had a great time on Patoka Lake during our visit and we are planning to visit again. The Lake is beautiful! We didn’t make it to Kelly’s this time, but plan to on our next visit. I love Mexican food and fajita so we will check out Miguel’s next time as well. I’ll give you a shout when we are down there again and we can meet up.

@HoosierDaddyAR190 I just saw this as well. Patoka is our "home lake" and we're up there quite often in the summer.

Next time you're nearby shoot me a PM and I'll get you the important hangout/fun spots on the water. I have a diagram around here somewhere, but will have to search to find it.

There are cabins around Patoka Lake to rent. The closest hotels/motels are in French Lick. Best Western Plus and Comfort Suites. French Lick Resort and West Baden hotels are gorgeous. Look at my post up above. As far as Patoka Lake, you will love it. We always put in at Painter Creek. It can get busy. Some of the coves we go in and anchor are as follows: Party Cove: Over the by the Dam. You cannot miss it. Many boats will be back there.

Next Party Cove is if your coming out of Painter Creek into the main part you will take a left. Across from the water tower. Great place to anchor. Again, just look for a ton of boats. Always nice and calm back for us.

Another Party Cover is over by Little Patoka Boat Ramp. Go under the bridge across from the marina and go straight back & drag to the right. It is way back. We have found this one to be one of our favorites. Less crowded the last couple of times we have been out.

We have 2 marinas on the lake but we have not used them.

I am not an expert on Patoka Lake since this was our first time there, but I will say the family and I had a great time visiting and staying in the floating cabins. Check out Benny’s off the water. Good pizza, fried mushrooms, bbq and XL beers with a good atmosphere. It is right next to Patoka Lake Winery. HoosiersHills Marina has a decent restaurant/bar to stop in at while out on the water. Great wings, pizza and a beer on the deck is a good lunch or evening stop while out on the water. Really nice Marina with courtesy dock parking. Premium gas there too. Dairy Barn is a great ice cream stop for the kids about 20 min from floating cabins if you want to get out for dessert. We hit a lot of coves to just hangout, relax, swim and fish. It was a Great Lake for relaxing family time out on the water. Have a good time and let us know how your visit goes. We are planning to make it an annual trip and want to know if others find good spots while they are there.
