Im close to closing for a 195S leftover 2023 model brand new Yamaha jet boat. Went to look at the boat today and it had some issues like some of the mat were pilling off and the front window plastic fairing was missing a piece. I know it’s been sitting around at the dealer for a year so things like that could happen. The batteries were dead and so on. The dealership would obviously fix all that before closing the deal so I’m not too concerned. Now I just had a few questions, this boat will be used for saltwater down here in Florida. My biggest concern is corrosion. What are the best steps to take to keep the boat safe from corrosion? I understand flushing the engine and anti corrosion spray on the keel and engine compartment but is there anything else I should be aware about? Also I’m planning to trailer the boat but I wouldn’t mind taking the boat down to the Keys and leaving at the dock for 3 days, according to my salesman I shouldn’t leave this boat more than a day straight inside the water or that can cause issue. Meaning I could never rent out a slip to keep my boat in the water like I see most Outboard boats do down here at the marina. Is this a jet engine issue? Could I take the boat for a weekend getaway and leave it in the water for 3/4 days without having serious problems? And let’s say you take it down to The keys and use it for 4 days straight without flushing out the engine would that be a problem? Especially if you’re in a location that doesn’t provide a hose. Or you’re meant to flush the engine every single day you’re out on the boat? Thanks for hearing me out. This is my first boat so I’m just overly concerned .

Recall consisting of adding a bracket to the rack Assembly on various boats not just that model.

I would think you would be fine for a few days. Thorough salt away flush and dip trailer and boat in freshwater after your outing should be good to go. It’s a boat with marine manufacturing. Follow Yamaha guidelines and send it!

@JetBoatPilot is a great resource to ask about Yammies and salt water use.

I never left my SX195 in the saltwater over night but would imagine it wouldn’t do that much damage. There is a zinc on the pump and another in the engine. I flushed mine after every use with salt away and never had a problem. I did have a steering cable freeze up at less than 10 hrs and need to be replaced, so make sure you lubricate that. There is a rubber boot over the steering cable sheath, take a 13mm wrench, slip the boot off and spray some corrosion spray into the sheath and manually work the pump left to right. Water likes to sit in there, as it’s a steel core, it will rust and bind.

you can message this guy (153) Out On The Reef - YouTube , he used to own a yamaha jetboat 190 and takes it to the bahamas few days at a time and maybe a week sometimes (maybe 5 times a year). I do not think he does the engine flush while he was there and have no issues for few years, he now moved on to a pilot house. He is good replying to questions. I have 190 now but never got a chance to leave it docked or in the water overnight.

A few days or a week at a time no issues. We have only had our boat in salt walt once. We had it in the water for a week while in Siesta Key without any problems. We have a painted trailer, so we rinsed it after launching. We also had fresh water available and rinsed down the boat each afternoon (water only) to remove salt before covering. Again, because of the painted we spray Yamalube or white lithium grease into the trailer frame through the unused bolt holes, leaf springs et cetera. Once home we used Salt Away on the entire boat, inside and out.
We will be doing the same after attending JetSet2024 in Panama City this July.

Definitely do not be discouraged with what you read or what has happened with other people in the past. You are asking all of the right questions, and this by far is the best forum site to get all the answers you will need!
