I don't have access to my boat until this weekend. I am installing an amp in the starboard helm storage. I plan to mount the amp in the storage to the wall behind the bow seating back rest.

Does anyone know if a 3 foot RCA cable will be long enough to wire up the amp to the HU?

I don't want to run the typical 18' cable.

Go with 6'. Three ft may reach, but you wont be able to route it out of the way.

3 would work in a pinch, but would most likely be in the way. I used 5' and was able to route nice and tidy.

Yeah, you will need 6' to route it neatly. Now if you went straight across and didn't tie it to anything, 3' would barely reach. You may even want more than 6' if you strain relieve everything and tie it to an amp board. I am trying to remember, I think I bought 3, 6, and 8 and ended up using the 6'ers but it was tight.
