An earlier post recommended that our captains meeting be located at Bokampers since there would be ample dock space for everyone to attend. Its about 2 miles north of the Bahia Mar and reachable by boat. I'm awaiting a return phone call from them to determine suitability for sure due to our group size.
Regardless of the location, I'm thinking 5pm would be a good time to kick off our meeting. Does anyone else have other opinions on this?
Just throwing this out there as food for thought...
Has anyone considered BoatU.S. membership? I'm strongly leaning towards buying it. Gold unlimited membership is $180/year and covers 100% of a tow from Bimini.
Without it, a tow is about $400 an hour from the time they leave the dock to the time they return. That could easily be a $4000 tow bill for something like a catastrophic engine failure.
They will cover a boat that is borrowed, but not if the owner is present. In other words, if your boat fails, and I have a membership, MAYBE my membership would cover another's boat.
I'm thinking it might be a really good idea with such a large group...
Join us in Bimini Bahamas in June 2014! We have about a dozen boats going so far and hope to add more!
Sunday June 22 - Captains Meeting at the Bahia Mar hotel in Ft. Lauderdale
Monday June 23, 6am - Depart for Bimini
Saturday June 28, 6am - Depart for Ft. Lauderdale
So far everyone is staying at Bimini Sands on South Bimini.
Plenty more info is available as this thread develops.
So far participants (from this forum) include:
@PreciousMetals (Hopefully meeting us, not part of the flotilla)
@Tyler (Will be in Bimini during overlapping dates, not part of the flotilla)
If there are additional participants here that I haven't matched their user names from the other site, let me know!
