Never mind - I didn't see the diameter of these, only up to 1" so won't work on the tower. Anybody recently bought rod holders that work on the tower that are reasonably priced?

Anyone tried a SeaSucker rod holder? Found one on Craigslist near me and think I might get it.

I've see where @1948Isaac has some installed on his boat. Looks good. I couldn't find the thread where I asked him about it. It was last year I believe. Maybe he can chime in.

By the way, you can see in my signature picture I have a 3 rod holder. For now, I merely Velcro strapped a 3 Rod Holder from West Marine onto my tower. It's a temporary fix. A temporary fix that appears to have turned permanent.....

LOL. I am looking for a non permanent solution cause I won't be fishing all the time. That is why I started looking at this option. I think Isaac is using mounts for his but the one's I think he is using are sold out or discontinued.

Well then here is what I did. Totally non-permanent and can be moved easily Haha. Just stepped out and took a pic. Got the rod holder at Bass Pro and the velcro straps from West Marine. This is totally a red neck solution, but has worked well for me. That's why I still have it on.

I used a similar 3 rod holder to what @ToddW850 used, then mounted that to a piece of cutting board. Then I attached 2" stage lighting clamps with quick connect wing nuts to the back of that. I put some 1/4" compressible weather strip in the clamps to keep it from marking the tower. Used it all year last year and it's super sturdy and easily removable when the wife and kids are onboard. I think I might do another one this year to hold more rods when I take friends out.

This is a great idea - can you send a pic of the other side? Also - do you put your rods in there when you are moving?

I can take a picture of the back of the rod holder tonight after work, just not on the boat because I haven't gotten it out of storage yet. I happened to have that picture from last year. I do put the rods in there while moving at all speeds and had no issues. I just had to remember to take them out when going under low bridges. That's why I angled the holder toward the stern. If you click the link in my previous post it shows the stage lighting clamps. I think I'm going to buy more because they are perfect for connecting to the tower.

Ordered some of those clamps. Looks great. I cut a couple pieces of aluminum and drilled some holes. Pretty simple but should work just fine.

@robert843 do you have the ebay member link. That looks really sharp and easy install. Right up my alley.

I got some new fishing rods and needed to expand my rod holder count beyond the 3 tower mounted ones, so I decided to go with a couple of flush mounts. I think these will be good if I decide to do any trolling etc., and can also use them for grills or other toys. The fiberglass is surprisingly thick back there. I wasn't expecting that, but they are nice and sturdy. It's probably close to 3/4". One weird thing happened during the install. I was squeezing silicone out around the opening and screw holes and the tube blew out the back. That was a huge mess, but luckily the silicone job was done. Overall, it was an easy install and I'm glad I did it. I'll test them out this weekend when I go pike and walleye fishing Saturday.
