I am at work so I can't measure my boat but does anyone know the diameter of the rear Bimini poles on the newer tower, mainly the AR 19' boats. I'm going to design and 3D print some flag clips.

Here's my flag holder design to 3D print. The oring is to give it some resistance to help it stay secure and in place on the metal pole.

Nice! Are the bimini poles screwed to the fittings so you can disconnect for installation?

I have a 242, so not sure if they're the same size but I was going to swing by boat storage this afternoon and can measure the diameter of the rear bimini pole if you still need it. If the bimini isn't up, can you still use the flag holder?

Ohh yeah and can you print a couple for me? ;)

@haknslash ~ 3/4 inch on my 242 rear bimini brace but the end cap is larger which I assume you'll need to clear to slide this on. Not sure if it's the same on the 192 or not.

I have the dimensions now but thanks for checking in. The pole I'm mounting the flag holders is the rear most adjustable pole. On the 192 you can completely remove the larger piece that has the push button. This will allow you to slide on the flag holders and then put the tube back on for good. I'm not sure if the 24' bots are different.

Changed the design up to something a bit more simple and smaller footprint. Embossed my forum name too :D.

It uses a 5/16"-18 threaded stainless steel screw (3/4" thread length) to clamp the holder in place on the bimini pole....

Exported my 3D model over to the 3D printer software and built supports for printing....

I'm pouring in the resin here. For this print I'm using Formlabs "Tough" material....

In about 5 hours I'll have two prototypes to test fit on the boat made from liquid resin UV cured to solid hard parts. :)

That's your boat, your choice plus your zip ties don't have your forum name embossed :p. I wanted something a little nicer. The other flag holder clips I've seen are flimsy and don't have a way to tighten the clip so I decided to make my own.

Parts are done printing...

Now I place them in my custom UV curing enclosure...

Looks trippy and reminds you of your college years inside :D. You can see how the photopolymers in the resin react with UV light....

Awesome! Are you going to be able to offer these up for sale (w custom handle names) after you test them out? Or, is this more of a follow along w your project sort of thing?

Either way, I love it!

Let me test them out for a bit and we will see what I may be able to do. The resin isn't cheap and I'll need to calculate how much each part costs me. I have other resins that are cheaper but they are more brittle and I am not sure if they would hold up.

This specific "Tough" resin I used is made for absorbing impact and stress. It performs very good even against a hammer and a vise!

Depending on cost I would be interested in a group buy. Looks great

They fit the rings of the flag nicely. I need to make a change to the diameter of the tube section though as I made it too small. Tried to go off foggy memory at work lol but no biggie I'll make the change and print some more on Monday. I have a stepped unitbit that may allow me to drill these out larger just to test fit but we'll see.

nice job. New technology is amazing. Who ever believed that they would "print" a part for something at home?

Great job @haknslash !

How did the threads turn out ?
Or did you tap after curing ?
Thanks! This printer has great resolution and detail so I model the threads prior to printing.
