It all depends upon who is onboard. With my fam, it is usually either 80s/90s/2000s, Top 40 or country. Me and my buds.....definitely some current edgy rock (Octane #37 on Sirius) or a smidge of rap (lyrics can be downright nasty, so have to be careful with the volume on the swim platform speakers

. But any music sure sounds better on the water!!!

We had a 32' Cabin Cruiser about 8 years ago that we had in a slip - it was a 3 mile trip out the channel to Lake Michigan - we got in the habit of listening to a bunch of Joe Satriani songs and a song called "Angel (footsteps)" by Jeff Beck - seemed like perfect water music - when we got another boat this past fall, first trip out on the water we cranked the same music and it brought back a lot of fond memories - I'm a musician, and I love just about all music, so once we are on the water, it becomes the flavor of the day - love classic rock, alternative and jazz - all depends on if we are chillin, cruising, or partying - and of course if we have guest on the boat, we let them have a say - water, boats and music!! - its all good!!

When we're at anchor I usually put on my 80's rock Pandora station. I apologize to the kids and their friends for having to listen to such old stuff, but many of them say "Oh no! We love this stuff!" (I THINK they mean it in spite of patting me on the head while saying so...)

So we're listening to AC/DC, .38 Special, Bad Company, Dokken, Giant, Great White, Survivor,... You get the idea. I do have to censor those to some degree, but the youngest is almost 10 so I've only got a few more years of diving for the "Skip" button when I hear certain songs come on. I also like the guitar instrumental stuff: Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, Buckethead, etc.

My eldest (17 year old girl) likes a lot of my old stuff. I have to admit to feeling a little bit of pride the day she walked in to the room in a Van Halen T-Shirt. That's my girl.

We listen to a lot of classic rock and new country, and every once in awhile maybe some old disco tunes or older hip hop. When I'm on the water by myself, I love to put on Joe Bonamassa and rock out to a little blues guitar.

We mostly listen to the Sublime channel on Pandora. Some of my favorite bands from the channel: Stick Figure, Dirty Heads, Rebelution, Slightly Stoopid, Tribal Seeds, The Expendable, Soja, and of course Sublime. Great music if you like Ska/Rock/Reggae.

When I go out with a bunch of people and we park on an island to hang out all day, I play a bunch of mashup mixes I found on soundcloud. They are roughly an hour long each. There are some pretty talented people that put these mixes together. They mix songs from different eras together that just seem like they were supposed to be that way. We're a bunch of 40 year olds hanging out and we end up with a bunch of young people parking their boats next to us listening to the tunes. It certainly improves the scenery for the day.

Hey There everyone. New to this forum. Was browsing this thread and was laughing hysterically with this song. Yes a bit explicit, but I'll be surprising my wife with this one on our first boat trip while kids are in school... Hysterical.

For me... leaving the dock is always RUSH!! Anything by the Holy Triumvirate.

Once my wife has had her fill of Rush... which is about maybe 2 songs,

then it’s either Jimmy Buffet, Heart, Bob Marley or if we just want variety it’s 80’s on 8 on SXM.
