Well u see... when we ran the 10 gauge wire i shoved my kids in the far back compartments .. that wasnt to bad... untill i pulled out the black wire tubing that we had to stuff the wires i to... so it would.. "look good".. everyone was over it by then.

Since we are on the topic.. i have a fusion tgat has a class d built in... the probl3wm is when we turn it up some of the speakers start to pop. I installed wet sounds speakers when i installed the radio.. any idea why that would be?
haha i misunderstood. running wires aint no fun during summer. I try to do all my work either on the water or early spring. Summer is too short to be wrenching on the boat!

That kit has 20' of red power cable (good), 3' of black power cable (too little) and I am pretty sure is copper clad aluminum wire (bad).

At 20' allowing for a 5% voltage drop 8 gauge copper wire is good for 20 amps while 8 gauge aluminum wire will handle 12 amps. The amplifier is rated to draw 22 amps.

My wires are only 3' long since I have a power & ground distribution block in the helm which helps with this.

I believe you are experiencing clipping. My IP600 is powering six 6x9s without any clipping until I get to max volume. Can you tell us more about how yours speakers are wired? What model speakers did you use and how many?

What size are the wires to the distribution block?

What size are the wires to the distribution block?
0 gauge from battery switch and the negative post

I have 6.5 wet sounds speakers and i only have 4... i want to add two more on the swim deck. At low to medium it sounds great.. but close to to top end of the volume it starts to do it!

Maybe an amp would clear that up?
when I turned up volume on my headunit without amp it crackled and was not a pleasant sound. amp definitely helped get rid of that. much clearer sound

In any audio system either the amp or the speakers will reach their limit first. In your case the Fusion head unit is capable of providing 26 watts RMS to a 4 Ohm load. Depending on which model the Wet Sounds 6.5 speakers are either rated for 120 or 200 watts. You certainly could benefit from adding an amplifier to use a greater percentage of the speakers capacity.

Alternately adding the third pair of speakers wired in parallel to one of the channels on the head unit will increase the volume by more than 30%. That is based on the Fusion head units ability to provide 43 watts RMS to a 2 Ohm load. The four speakers in the parallel channel would receive 21.5 watts each. The pair that would originally in the boat boat would loose 4.5 watts but the additional pair of speakers would increase the total output.

@bronze_10 those speakers will rock. Just throw 600w at them and you'll be amazed how much better they sound! ;)

Wow, that is a big wire to the distribution panel!
Yeahhhh it was bit of an overkill. I won't have to worry about additional power ! lol

Wire ordered from Knukonceptz. I spoke with one of their folks today on the phone to verify I was getting the correct OFC wire and the other associated items I needed.

Blue Seas distribution block ordered from Amazon as well.

And what the hell, while I was at it, I ordered the Basslink DC from Sonic Electronix. But it won't be here until after 5/12.

Looking forward to this!

My replacement open box unit arrived today and looks like new. Now I have 2 that appear to be in perfection condition.
