Thing of beauty. I personally LOVE Sea Rays. Do you have any idea of the pricing?
She is heavy! Makes for very luxurious cruise, but w/dry weight almost 2,000 lbs over a 2016 AR240, it needs some different considerations for towing. Interesting they just barged into the wake boat market like this.

Do you have pics of the swim/surf platform, especially the bottom of it, and the transition between the hull and the swim/surf platform?

EDIT: I do like the SLX 230 cockpit much better, actually, with that side pass to swim platform. My wife LOVED it to the point that only the price was stopping her at the last year boat show. For me it was the price and I/O.

Nice boat. Prices will be in the 6 digit MC/Nautique neighborhood.
The wake boat forums are a buzz about this boat - trashing it every chance they get. Those guys are a bit close minded.

Sea Ray has been building inboards forever, in larger vessels. So I'm sure this boat is top notch.
I enjoy seeing all the new models. I'm also very curious/interested in the Volvo forward drive - specifically the Cobalt Surf Editions.

@Andy S has that in his new awesome Cobalt. It is a brilliant design but needs deep-ish water.

Partially correct, I do have a new Cobalt but I don't have WSS edition (surf), mine has the rear facing prop.

I think the forward facing prop is an interesting design but having my boat for one season and already twice damaging one of the rear facing props, I can't image how many times I would damage a forward facing prop.

I read that joy stick control was an option and one of the pics seemed to show what I think is a bow thruster, very cool for a 23" wake boat.

Too bad Searay didn't go forward with its plans to enter the jet boat market. This would be a sweet although expensive jet boat.

Looking forward to checking it out at the Connecticut Boat Show. Not in the market - I just enjoy checking out the new rigs.
Looks deep. I'm sure the ride will be plush.

One thing I noticed when I checked the specs was that even though they call it a 23, it's really less than 21 without the swim platform. That, in itself, is not a problem. However, if they price and market it in line with other 23 foot inboards, which are actually 23 without the swim platform, it isn't going to stack up well in terms of interior space. Otherwise, I think it looks beautiful and it's cool to see a "traditional" maker entering the v-drive wakeboat arena.

Nice boat, but if I wanted a wake/surf boat in the 6 figure range I'd go with a Nautique first, then Mastercraft second. Sea Ray makes a great boat, but seriously can't compare to the Nautique and Mastercraft line of V-Drives currently on the market.

I just got a quote on a 230SLX - $90K is street price List is $110k.

I have been looking at everything out there: Cobalt CS3 is nice, all the yamaha stuff, sea ray, bryant, master craft, etc.

I keep coming back to the Yamaha. I like the draft (Texas lakes are always up and down - the jet boat is a huge plus).

All the stern, vs IO, v drive, etc - all confusing.

Cobalt CS3 vs. 242 limited S seems to be the comparison at this point for me.

Prop a season - that sucks.

Sure seems like the jet boats could be the lowest maintenance but you have 2 of everything.

Which Cobalt did you buy? The one I am looking at has the forward facing props.

I bought the R5, it has the rear facing prop. I didn't have a need for a wake setup.

Nice boat - still debating all the options.

Did you have a Yamaha before the Cobalt?

Why not a Yamaha?

I am still boatless,
D.

I had an '07 Yamaha SX230 that I bought used in 2010. I really enjoyed that boat but when the 2015's 24' Yamaha's came out the changes were enough for me to think of upgrading. I don't like to purchase new the first year of a new model, so when the 2016's came out the wife and I went to the boat show to see them. It turned out that our local Yamaha dealer is also again selling Cobalt's so we looked at those too. For as long as I can remember I have always wanted a Cobalt but they were out of my price range. When the 2016 boat show pricing on the Cobalt was good enough to put the R5 just a few grand above the top Yamaha and in my prices range it was an easy decision, plus the dealer gave me a good price on Yamaha trade in. Do I miss having a Yamaha, at times yes, especially when I'm in water that can be potentially shallow otherwise I'm extremely happy with my decision.

If the prices are that close - I am going to be temped to go Cobalt. I still like the idea of the jet for when our Texas lakes get low.

I wanted a Cobalt R3 or R5 surf. Got a call from the SeaRay dealer. $68K off list for a 2017 SLX-W 230. I could not pass it up for that price.
