I had a second battery installed by my Yamaha dealer, along with the ACR and two battery switch from Blue Water Systems, so that the stereo would run off the house battery, and not the start battery, etc. I had them remove the capacitor that had been wired in which most members of the forum that commented said should remove. I've only owned this boat for 1 season and haven't operated the stereo hardly at all before the rewiring, but I don't think it did this before. What happens is within seconds of turning on the battery switch, the speakers start buzzing, without the stereo being turned on. Once the stereo is turned on, the buzzing goes away. Can I assume this is not normal and they screwed up somewhere? I have a very poor video of me trying to video my problem here: (please don't look at the dirt collected. The tarp was just removed in preparation to put the boat in for the first time).

Thanks,
Soapy

Sorry for the bump. Does anybody have any ideas whether this could be considered normal?
Thanks in advance,
Soapy

Thanks for the reply. To answer that I would have to know something, or anything really, about wiring and electricity. Sadly, it's all Greek to me. I needed to know if it was normal, so that if it wasn't I can rip my boat service people (Riverside Marine in St. Albert, Alberta, in case anybody needs to stay away from a business) a new one. They also installed a new speedometer sending unit which doesn't work as well. The only two things they worked on before I put it in the water this last weekend.
Thanks for the reply again. I be getting on the phone now!

Its a ground loop issue most likely.

All equipment need to be ran to the house battery including head unit. Usually happens when something is not grounded to the same common ground. I suspect this to be the issue 90% of the time. Another issue could be bad cable shielding of your RCAs. Make sure RCAs do not run next to any powerlines.

Keep us posted

Look to see if there is a big (usually black) wire joining the two Negative posts of each battery. If there isn't....there's your problem.

Aye. Thanks so much for the replies. As soon as power is restored, as soon as I can turn off the generator that is singlehandedly keeping the floodwaters at bay in my crawl spaces sump, and once I get some coffee in to me after pulling this all nighter, I'll be heading out into the waters and under the tarp of my boat to have a look. And if the storm has subsided. And if we can get the neighbours boat back off the rocks after breaking loose and running aground on our shore. Sigh. Some days are just fuller than others. Thanks again for the help. IMG_0151.JPG

Thanks for the good wishes. Now in the 28th hour of the power outage, meaning fridge and sump pump are still on generator life support. Oh and nights are a little frosty!
