It is not the law in Texas, a boat and trailer require license and registration, even if used, and when you try to do either, your going to pay the tax, no matter where you bought it. I may move to Arkansas!
I'm probably a bad example. I drove to MN for my 242 deal. I bought my 192 from Surdyke at LOZ, but didn't buy again from them. Didn't have a BAD experience with the 192, but it wasn't the warm fuzzies I hoped for. I think some of your dealer selection depends on how much you plan on using them. I do all my own service, have access to Yamaha parts where I work, and generally don't call the dealer with questions or for assistance. I might value a good local shop more if I relied on them for service work. I have yet to need warranty work on any of my new Yamahas, so we will see what happens if and when that situation might arise.
I will echo what others have said about St. Charles. I have heard nothing but good things from others. Odds are good I would use them for service work if I ever needed it.
I tried to buy a boat there but the sales manager was very inappropriate and condescending. I told him I planned to pick up the boat the following weekend and he kept telling me "well if you can't afford it" and "you would buy it today if you could afford it". That guy knew nothing about me. He refused to give me a price unless I agreed to take delivery that day. I called Sehorn Yamaha, they gave me the price over the phone and I picked it up the few days later as I had planned to do at dick lanes...
Also, so far they have been great on service and helped me get the fender brackets for my shorelander trailer.

I also had dealings with sehorn and would have bought from them if they had the boat I wanted. H&H in okc didn't have it either. They are way closer than Dicks
