I should know this, but guess I don't. Question is about my Rotax / Chaparral system, but I imagine it does not differ with Yamaha
When going at low RPM (under 1800 -2000, or for my boat, under 4 mph) is the reverse gate fully open and clear of the jet nozzle? Or, does the gate cover a portion of the nozzle until higher RPM's?
Reason I ask is I have a slight rattle sound that comes from that area when I am under 2000 RPM. As soon as I go over that mark, the sound clears up. It is not consistent either. I've tried recording it, and it doesn't come over well on my phone. My thought is that something is loose on the buckets and at that low speed, if the buckets are partially down over the jet nozzle, that is the cause of the rumble/vibration I hear.
