Hi Folks, I am having an issue getting the port side side throttle getting out of locked position. When I click on the lock release it moves fwd but obviously that does not help. Last summer I sucked up a pretty big rock that halted the engine. I had to remove the impeller to get the rock out but now its now empty and no lights come on. Is there a reset procedure that I can perform?

thanks so much.

Welcome @Jfutty
Your symptoms sound more like gravel or rocks binding up the reverse gate. Shut off engines, go to the back of your boat and grab the reverse gate. Pull it up and down until it has free movement.

Thanks for your reply. I actually have removed the impeller and disconnected the reverse gate and still not unlocked. While I am not sure, it feels like its some kind of safety over ride.

I also just noticed that on the strbrd side when I turn the key on I hear 3 beeps. On the port side I do not hear any beeps but engine starts on both sides without any problem. I am puzzled.

your throttle controls don't have any electronic functions to reset, everything is manual

If the pump/jet is still disassembled it could be the cable is bound or caught on something while it is just hanging there,

I think you should have someone watch it at the back while you try to work the throttle,

Thanks for your reply. Interesting about being manual. When I press the black button on the side which allows me to rev the engine without engaging the drive the throttle moves no problem. Right now I have the impeller and housing off so its all disconnected and still does not move. I wonder if the throttle control just broke. Just seems a bit odd that it happened same time we took on the rock that disabled the engine. I may just have to take to dealer but did not want to haul it up there as they have a backlog and our summers are really short up here.

The black button is a bypass "manual switch" of your bucket cables.

It sounds like your bucket cable has a problem. Could it be that it's kinked since you have it disconnected?

Otherwise it's very possible you could have broken the bucket cable at some point in the run.

Here is how you can take apart your throttle control to inspect it
from our FAQ tab (the FAQ also has a link about cable replacement)

Scott, thanks. You were correct. I used the instructions and just took apart my control box the cable is somehow stuck. When I disconnected it the lever moved freely. I will order one tonight when I find a non oem reference and hope to put it back together on the weekend. Thanks so much!

Glad you were able to track down your problem. I've been following this post only because I noticed you had the exact same post in the "other" site and wanted to see which site gave best advice. Guess jbn won as no one has replied to your problem on the other site.
