Building a house and boatel

Hi guys! I know we all enjoy a good project thread. So I will show you what we have been up to lately! We sold our house in October, acquired 19 acres in the country, and have broken ground on a house and shop! Things are moving along nicely. Enjoy the pics. I'll keep the thread updated.

@skrip345 It appears you are building the shop/garage on a slab foundation. Do you not have any frost in MO.?

Very exciting we just bought 20 acres also and will be selling our house in year to build a shouse. Found we need more garage than house so why not plus all our neighbors hate us with all our toys.

@buckbuck We do but the frost line doesnt get too deep. Not sure if you can tell from the photos but the perimeter of the slab is much deeper than the rest (around 16"). After final grade and the other slabs on the sides front and back we dont anticipate any issues.

Thanks everyone, Ill keep them coming. The foundation guys for the house are supposed to start working on the footers tomorrow, and the power company is supposed to be there Wednesday at the latest. Its odd to think it would be so exciting, but we are ready to have power on site. We have been running a generator to power our tools and compressor, and it makes communication and listening to music a challenge!

Well before the snow showed up saturday night, we got the trusses all set. The concrete guys showed up and got the concrete pumped into the forms. Need some warmth to melt the snow. Still progress!

Hey sorry @buckbuck Ive been sleeping on updating the thread. We have made some progress, but not nearly as much as Id like. The weather has not been cooperating. Its been below zero several nights, and snow and freezing rain. We did get a window last week for pouring the basement walls. They are planning on stripping the forms tomorrow, so I will get some good pics of the walls then. The shop has been inching forward. We have power, windows, and are working on getting the side awnings built. Once they are finished we will get the steel sheeting on the roof and get this beast in the dry. My overhead doors came in, so once we get the outside metal on we will be indoors! Enjoy!

How about an update here fellas? We have been busy! I thought about this thread today, because the boat will be moving to the lean to this week. Enjoy! The house is moving slow, but the walls are poured and backfilled. We need a window in the weather for basement floor pour.

Getting ready to do the same thing. Ours will progress a lot slower then yours though.

Want an update fellas? The weather has finally started to come around. Thank god. House is framed, and I started roofing tuesday afternoon. Lots of progress, but lots more work to do. We got married March 10th, so the shot of the shop with the lights and tables setup is from that. Its the only pic I have of the shop before we emptied our storage unit into it after the honeymoon. Nows its full of our junk!

Great looking house @skrip345. Did you find that on one of the home plans sites? That is the type I would want to build. Gonna look real nice. Congrats and keep making progress.

Yep, we scoured the house plan sites. We knew we wanted 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths and everything on the main floor. This one checked all the boxes and has a nice open floor plan that was good for entertaining and matched our "style".
