Great video.

We should all calculate the amount of man-hours and silicone used to repair our $30,000+ boats and send a giant bill to Yamaha. Maybe then they would acknowledge the poor workmanship and problems with these boats.

That video makes me second guess my live well. I need to check it too. I'd hate to sink the boat over $25 worth of live shrimp.
The funny thing is when I was ordering the boat one of the first things I requested was to change every thru hull from cheap a$$ plastic to brass/bronze/stainless and double clamp every hose connection below the water line. The service manager said that would void Yamahas hull warranty. I asked if the boat sinks becuase of a crappy plastic fitting, what happens next? Do they replace the fitting or the entire boat. He laughed, I didn't. Yamaha clearly has a problem here. I realize we're not getting Scout quality but even Carolina Skiff fittings are not this bad.
At what point do lawyers and factory recalls happens? How many more YouTube videos and threads like this have to happen before Yamaha pays attention?

On a positive note, I have siliconed all my through hull fittings and had the boat in the water for 4 days straight on a keys trip. I don't think the bilge pump kicked on even once.
I was definitely concerned because all we have is the stock pump.
Removing the plugs and draining the area under the console floor is a necessity after a good wash or rain storm.

I can live with the plastic but I am astounded at how bad the install of the fittings is across so many boats. One here or there, okay. This many though, shameful.
Oh well, I'll have nothing to whine about once I get the leaks stopped. HaHaHa, right?

First off biggest issues causing water in places it should not be is the front seat pedestal hole and rod holders!! With that being said I would not put anything in the back compartments if you don't want them wet most importantly things like battery chargers. So the water from the seat pedestal flows down into the changing area room and down the sides of the boat into the back compartments which have no real draining mechanism. Need a plug or hose to re-direct the water in pedestal!!

Cooler flows out the rear of the boat with no issue.

Changing room area has 2 plugs leading to a little valley that so far on a level surface water just sits below the plugs. The front plug is too high so once you get a 1/2 inch of water in the front section it never leaves!! Major design flaw here not sure how I am going to resolve this. I pulled the white paneling and the fuel tank is behind and below this so be careful if you want to drill into this paneling!! Maybe a 1/4 inch gap under the tank which I believe is where water comes from motor area if it gets too high.

Rear floor drains have a 1 way stop valve which is nice so water does not come in but water goes out so slow dirt just collects in the little pockets on each side of the boat.

Starboard compartment in front of live well this one actually drains a little under the paneling into the motor area. Might need to drill a hole in the paneling so it will drain faster real slow right now. If you are fishing and using the rod holders in the rain which I do on an occasion need these compartments draining.

Port side compartment water seems to collect in this area the worst which is where all my batteries and charger used to be. There is a hump that is a little higher towards the rear of the boat which is where I moved my cranking and house battery. Pulled my 2 trolling motor batteries and moved them to the front of the boat. Still trying to figure where I am going to re-locate my battery charger it had to go back to the dealer for repair. Probably due to too much moisture or water build up in this back compartment. I can't stress this enough this area is not good for electronics lots of moisture.

Still have to test anchor drain.

Live well has a 1-way drain just above the jet nozzle works as it should.

When there is a heavy rain I don't know if water can over flow the compartment lids and get in either.

Hope this helps others on why they have water in the boat.

Hello - first time poster. I just got a used 2017 FSH Sport and notice a fair amount of water when i first took it out yesterday. I will look at anchor locker drain hole. Are there 2 drains in the changing compartment or just one? Thanks

There's really nothing wrong with the plastic fittings. Lots of manufacturers use them. It's the fact that Yamaha does not take the time to seal them up properly. Normally boat manufacturers go overboard with the sealant and you end up destroying the fitting if you need to remove it. We obviously don't have that problem. I'm all in all pretty pleased with the quality of the boat and its fit and finish. For the price its nearly impossible to beat.

The floor drains both leaked on mine. i pulled them out and re-sealed them and that eliminated the water in my battery box. I replaced the rear drain plugs on the boat and you have to plug the drain in the bucket holding area in back compartment. This drain only drains into the hull of the boat.

@JDinfla That is something I am throwing around in my head. I am thinking about moving the factory bunks more toward the center line of the boat and add another set more to the outside of the hull. I am not happy at all that yamaha or shorelander allowed for bunk placement the way it is.

I did just that on my 2016 19’ FSH. Moved the original bunks in and added two on the outsides. Boat is way more stable on the trailer, too.
