I've developed a leak, I think primarily with the engine running.. Not terrible, but when I pull the drain plug, a few gallons comes out with the boat tipped backwards... Bilge comes on more often after I shut it down. I am wondering if it could be the inner bearing that's leaking, or something else... I did over-pump it with grease two years ago...I read a post from Cobra Jet that said you can blow it out.

I'd appreciate any advice on diagnosing this without using the shotgun approach...

Is it just in the lower bilge or do you get anything in the engine compartment?

If its the bearing you should be able to pop the hatch while running and likely see water coming in. Is the water warm or hot or the same temp as the lake? Did you already replace your scupper?

I did not replace the valve. I don't see any water leaking in from the engine compartment. It's only in the lower bilge and occasionally it'll make the bilge come on

Put your plug in and fill the boat with water. It will show you where your leak is

I'd dry it out and run the engines on a hose to rule them out. Then fill it with water as suggested.

I spent two years chasing a slow leak on a new boat that two different dealers claimed they could not find. The method that worked for me was filling the bilge while on a slope over dry ground. Sure enough I found the leak. I also found the cupholder drain line on the swim deck had all come disconnected when doing some other work as well. Also the bilge lid through hull exit was not tight and they relied on a cheap seal instead of marine sealant. I also installed a one way valve used for ballasts to prevent any water being forced up that drain. After I fixed all of that and a new bigger O ring on the drain plug my bilge is now dry.

The scupper is also something that should be replaced on your model as it is a when it will fail not an if from what I read here.

Is there a write somewhere on where you did these items? I'm not having any issues at this time but the drain plug they used on our generation models is crap and wouldn't mind going ahead and doing the precautionary work now.

Not much more detail but this is what I posted. https://jetboaters.net/threads/dry-bilge-finally.16536/

I plan on detailing all of my mods from this spring once they are all complete one by one and then an overall post that links them all. been so busy doing them that have not been able to take photos since I leave my phone inside when I am crawling all over the boat.

Those posts will include drain mods, sound proofing a bit different than others, fishing rod cup holders, board racks, Fixed mount VHF, VHF antenna (already posted), custom kegerator and beer tap, in hull fiberglass sub boxes, ballast system, push button start/stop 2.0, gas strut for starboard seat storage, fixed mount inflator, and updates behind the helm for all of the wiring.

If you boat in salt water, I second what @Cobra Jet Steering LLC said. I found busted and rusted hose clamps under my swim deck. It was kicking my bilge on. I replaced them all with new Stainless Steele Clamps.
