So I go out to the boat last week to take a look at something and while I'm putting the cover back on I notice the zipper to the leaning post cushion has separated. After looking it over I realized that there is no pull tab on the zipper. I'm assuming its been like that and with the boat being stored in a non-heated building the vinyl has shrunk and pulled apart. So I call the dealer that I purchased the boat from and explained to them what I found. They wanted me to send a picture , which I send. Next day they call back and say problem we can cover that under warranty. So the dealer than ask when can you drop off the boat? I said well being you are 2.5 hours from my location and the boats still in storage I'd much prefer to unzip it and ship it to you. His response " Sorry can't do that we require the boat here for all warranty work". Really, I'm expected to drive 2.5 hours one way for a simple zipper??? So I decided to call Yamaha to find out if that was a requirement and the gal I talked with thought my request was more than inline. Long story she sent me to another dealer and they did not have an issue with me just bringing the cushion in. So looks like I'll be spending my money for the 210 in the next couple years with a different dealer. Sad part is I sent a friend to the dealer I bought my FSH 190 from 4 weeks ago and he bought a boat from them. Guess they were only interested in the original sale??? So am I missing something in regards to their request?

You should do everyone a favor and post the names of the dealerships that did and did not help you. It would be a great benefit for future needs.

I just don't understand the boating industry (or much of any industry or the world for that matter) anymore,

You weren't our of line. My dealer will give me parts to replace and then bring the old ones back. It's a trust thing I think. Heck it saves the dealer time if I do the repair and he can probably still bill yamaha and i dont need to bring the whole boat in. Win win.

Although I didn't feel that I got a great deal when I bought my boat at Lynnwood Motoplex, I'll have to say that my salesman Zac really went above and beyond after the sale. When I bought it, there was a tear in the canvas top that they offered to replace if I left the top with them so they could have it custom made. I opted for them just to order a new one and send it to my house. In the mean time, I had the original one repaired and it's still on the boat. The first part that arrived was a bimini top for a boat without the console tower, I sent that one back and they ordered another one. The second part that arrived was a center console cover, nice cover but still not what I needed. I called Zac and asked him to get involved so that I could get the right part. Finally, the correct part arrived, complete with new strap and ratchet assembly. I thanked Zac and was told to just keep the console cover for the hassle. I'm a fan of Zac and Lynnwood Motoplex after it's all said and done.

They probably wanted you to bring your boat in to find more things they could charge Yamaha or you for.

Rich your probably right. Now they will get Zero of my future business. I'll be sure to by oil and filter from the dealership that helped me out when I pick up the new cushion.

The only reason I keep is a decent relationship with my dealer is in the event that I want to buy another Yamaha boat in the future. There is one dealer within 250 miles of my home. I don't use them for anything and will not unless there is a major warranty issue.
