If you need a cabin boy let me know. I'm dead serious...
Something just doesn’t sound right about this post two dudes riding on a boat into the Bermuda Triangle and you offering to be their cabin boy? Isn’t there a separate adults only section of the forum for these kinds of posts?

So i guess i was a little drunk last night and told @tim h i would be his crew on his boat for the trip. So looks like that might be a thing. Just need to have a glass of sweet tea with him and work out the details.
They say always do sober what you agreed to drunk. Sober week in bimini...dang!

@bronze_10 I want to get to Bimini any way possible. If it means solo to get confidence so I can take the family next year I am all in!

I made it to Bimini with 2o hours of lake boating experience and 5 foot seas.
If you family wants to go, there is no reason why there should not. And if you want to play it safe, they can fly in and fly out. That is what my family did last year. I rode the boat with one of my wife's girlfriends :D

I know that can be done, @Betik , but there are some among us whose spouse and/or children tolerate boating more than they love it. My wife is pretty firm on the "wave period/wave height > 2" rule. 3' waves at a 4 second interval is a no-go (4/3<2), even with our boat.
We got caught last year in a 3-4' washing machine for 10 miles, and she and our oldest were freaking out. That doesn't help convincing them to take another trip like that.

Been there. Done that @Berrie , I got quite a few earfuls at home on more than a few occasions as my family tolerate boating. Flew them to Bimini last year and did the crossing on the ar240 by myself and we all had a blast in Bimini. I convinced my wife that I am in a group during the crossing and we look out for each other and it is perfectly safe. The family loves the trip so much they want to cross this time on the boat. So I switched to a minivan for this year’s trip :D

OKay, back on track here. As the clock ticks closer to launch I find myself searching for problems.... to head off. The biggest item remaining I'm weighing in on is the cables. throttle and steering.

The boat is a 2009, its garaged weekdays, wet summer weekends, probably 15 days total ocean soak. I've never lubed them. I believe they feel fine. Are these Stainless from the factory ? worthy stainless? How many folks with this aged model have replaced them or seen issue ?

The manufacturer says

What kind of ongoing maintenance do cables need? Can they be repaired?

We suggest the following periodic maintenance be performed at least twice a season:
  1. Check overall operation for proper gear engagement, full and idle throttle, and
    overall feel.
  2. Visually inspect control head cable, as well as engine and transmission cable attachment points for
proper tightness of fasteners, correct operation of all moving parts, worn or broken items, cable
    chafing or misalignment, etc.
  3. Do not lubricate core wire (moving wire inside the casing). If the cable operates stiffly, replace it.
  4. Keep cable ends dirt and corrosion free.
  5. Lubricate pivot points and sliding parts of the cable with a good quality, water-resistant grease.
When to replace a cable or connection hardware:
  1. Excessive free play felt at the control even after all cable connections have been verifed as in good
    working order.
  2. Visual inspection shows signs of cha ng, breakage, bent, loose or worn parts.
Never attempt to repair a cable. Always replace a malfunctioning cable. A cable cannot be properly repaired in the eld and must always be replaced as an assembly. Attempting to repair a cable can result in control system failure, leading to personal injury and/or property damage.

I say change them. You will enjoy the newfound ease of steering and precision in the throttles.

looks like they sent arrival cards and departure cards.
Who sent them?

Andy and I will have landing cards at the Captains Meetings. There is no need for everyone to source them individually.
