Check for nuts that fell off the cleats. I found 4 in the hull and most were loose. I used red loctight.
Low compression. These engines were known to run 2000 hrs, but not for 14+ years. I have a head in the shop with 400hrs that needs all new valves and seals. A couple exhaust valves need machine work. I have a mr1 fx140 with 95 hr and low compression on 3. You can't buy new engines and work is expensive. If you can't wrench yourself, think twice before buying a mr1 boat. Sbt is the only option and they have mixed reviews.

There is no bildge pump at the low point. The bildge is maybe 8-12" above the low point. It could probably hold 50 gallons before any water gets to the pump. Install a pump under the clean out hatch port, especially if you wet slip and can't pull they plug every trip.

I'm sure I'll think of more later. If an admin can give me access to post, or copy my info to that thread, that would be great. Just looking out for all the new guys.

I wanted to keep it simple and a place to make members aware of potential issues and not have it turn into a q/a about individual problems,

It's there an option to only allow posts with admin approval? Or just edit the post that only issue are allowed and questions must be posted in a new thread. Or make me a thread a admin.

If you don't think that information is relevant to the thread that's fine. I think it would be helpful to add to the same thread.

I'm adding the cleat issue now,

The low compression - I'm not an engine guy so I just repeat what others say, I've not seen this reported much, I hesitated to add the cracked/seeping block issue that itsdgm had with only 2-3 reporting but thought as the engines get older it would be worth mentioning. We had 3-4 grenade engines with holes in the blocks but that's been over 10 years so I didn't bother mentioning it thinking sometimes stuff happens. Is it a time issue causing the loss of compression or parts wearing out ?

Bilge - I've been slow to respond because I wanted to pull my cleanout tray cover to confirm but to my recollection from replacing my scupper the bottom of transom where the scupper exits is only and inch or two at the most below the factory bilge in the engine compartment. We had pictures a member posted showing the scupper and the half moon opening at the back of the engine bay and how the floor was almost equal. Maybe your 2004 is different being the first year??? Many, myself included get 5 gallons (or at least it seems that much) of water out of the scabbard drain after a day of boating but never see the bilge run. It's generally thought the boat on the water actually sits nose down and holds water in the center until it's high enough to kick the bilge on. Maybe I'll take the cover off this weekend for my spring trial and run it to get a better understanding.
