Hello all - I am thinking of upgrading my 2016 fsh 190 sport to a 2018 fsh 210. I could use a little more space and since I do like to run a little offshore on nice days the idea of a second motor appeals to me in case of a breakdown.

Question for those who have a 210 fsh: Does the boat plane on 1 engine? And if the answer to that is "no" then what kind of headway can be made on a single engine? Can you at least limp back to port at 5 mph or so? Yamaha seems vague on this. I"ve read on other sites that they don't recommend ever running only 1 engine but if you look at Yamaha's marketing on their own website they vaguely talk about the "security" of having 2 engines.

Thanks for any input.

No, I don't think any of the Yamaha's can plane on one engine. My 212X can max out around 8-10 mph on one.

The only jet boat I am aware of being able to plane on one engine are the high horsepower Rotax twins, I've gotten a Seadoo 20' with 430 hp up on one, and it barely got there.

Thanks for the feedback and that would have been my guess. Most twin outboards can't plane on a single engine either. However, if I had the security of knowing I could limp back at 7 - 10 mph that would suffice and provide a little more peace of mind.
