The most popular/tried-and-true 6.5" speakers for that are Polk DB651s.
Can not really go wrong with those as far as budget category. Work best with an amp (any thing that can push 50Watts RMS per channel/speaker will do), but even without will be light years ahead as a direct replacement for OEM speakers (in most models except for some with newer/higher end trims that feature Polk, Kicker , or WS from factory).
A particular quirk is one smaller spade connector they use, easy to find anywhere.

Check out my audio upgrade thread. I put in JL mx770 speaker cause the stock holes were pretty big for the 6.5 inch. What’s your budget?

The stereo is not a hi priority to me but would like some tunes and it sound ok. The one thing I don't like about this system is no CD player but it is what it I guess. May wait a while because I want to put sea d deck in and get a new cover and maybe some fins so it might be a winter project to tinker with.

I went with 4 mx770 speakers an a mx500/4 amp. It's a budget system to some, but gets louder than the wife allows. I'm planning to add another pair of speakers in the helm area. Would like to go with the jl m880, to give more low end without adding a sub. I try to buy once, cry once... however replacing the Jensen speakers with just about anything will be an improvement. The members here like the polk db speakers, and adding an amp will help.

Lets just be clear... (I'm laughing/chuckling here) The Polk DB651 are NOT in the same category as JL 770, lol, let alone 880 - not even the same planet!
But those DBs are okay and for $50 a pair - hard to overlook on a tight budget.

That said...
My observation has been that it is exceeding rare to find any unhappy JL posts around here. Seems to be that Marine JL components, like speakers and amps, receive highest satisfaction ratings, consistently.

I tend to find a lot of stuff on ebay in the auction stuff with maybe a scratch or its a return and put wet sound speakers on my tower of last boat and infinity in the rest with LED lights and didn't have but a couple hundred in all of it because they had scratch on the covers. They got sanded and painted and nobody knew
