Ok, after no real earth shattering changes announced on the AR240, I'm thinking that a 2018 AR240 (in black as I like that color better) with the Wake Wedge and the custom Transom 750lb FatSac (or even 2), with JBP LT's, would be the better purchase??? Local dealer has a few AR240's still listed as available with a couple grand off from the End of Summer sale, etc. Probably around $52K. Save the $5k over a 2019? Is there anything else other than the Connex having GPS Maps on the 2019? No improved sound deadening or anything like that? Any improvements or changing to the pumps (i.e. larger, etc.) other than their changes to the nozzles (which may or may not be better than the JBP LT's)?
Just put the deposit down for the 2018 AR240. Going to grab it at the end of the work week. The contract was on the table a few weeks ago but decided to wait on the 2019's. That empty dash and green graphics sent me running back to the 2018.

"...WakeBooster ingeniously attaches to the stern eye..."
Good thing the Wake Wedge boys figured that out for them years ago.

River Valley Power Sports just posted a video on Facebook of the 242x surf wave with the new surf package and not going to lie it looks pretty good. It says no ballast on the post, but that's hard to believe.
Very impressive video for sure!

Yeah not bad. I think with proper ballast this gives the Yamaha a pretty good wave.
Based on the wave we experienced on the Scarab 255 Open a few weeks ago with zero ballast and their Surf Stream (same concept), I am thinking that along with a single 750lb Custom swim step FatSac like pictured should produce a good enough wake for our family to surf behind. I've not been able to find any video's of the Scarab with this exact setup (750lb fat sac on the swimstep) or even a Yamaha with Gatlin Wake Wedge and a single 750lb FatSac, to know for sure, but what I do believe is that our family doesn't need a pro quality wave to surf, but rather just something "surf-able" as it's just another thing we would like to do in the wide spectrum of other activities.. i.e. Tubing, Kneeboarding, Wakeboarding, Cruising, Beaching in a Cove, Anchoring in coves for Snorkeling/Spear Fishing, occasional light fishing, etc. etc.

Not owning a boat and being our first boat purchase, the AR240 seems to be the swiss army knife of boats for us. No props for young children safety (2yr, 5yr, 9yr olds), low draft for getting into shallow ravines in Mohave, Mead and Powell, easily beach-able for tenting on the river in private coves, more than acceptable water sports capabilities for our family (not avid or high level water sports kids), can fish, capable for near shore ocean stuff here in Newport/Dana Point or early morning runs to Catalina Island (see it done all the time if careful), anchoring in 20'-30' water in bay's around Laguna for play and snorkeling, lake cruising, etc. etc.

The bottom line is I think it's futile to try and get these boats to throw a wave like a dedicated "Surf Boat", they never will. It appears initially like this new Surf package (along with a single FatSac on the swim step or a 212/242 "X" model Yammie with ballast) should produce a surf-able wave finally. I'm sure we will start to see real world video's soon, and maybe even from our family if we pull the trigger on a 2018/19 AR240.

The surfer looks better with the WakeBooster though, so it's still a toss up.

How many bags are on the seats or swim deck is the question. I want a surfable Boat with no bags required to be seen. All under seat or subfloor.

I agree. They are great all around boats but I want something surfable that doesn’t require ballast bags on the floor, seats or swimdeck.

I just run a transom bag , that’s it on my boat none on seats so easy to fill and empty not even a concern for me

Being able to leave on all day would easily put me in the wedge camp, but I think the vids and pics of the booster wakes are without ballast or at least without 700lbs on the swim deck which seems to be the standard for using the wedge. I don't really think it's apples and apples comparisons at this point.

Hi AR240owner. Can you comment on whether you have a Wake Wedge (or something similar) and what size FatSac you run on the transom, and then what your experience has been on being able to actually surf without falling off the wave all the time, etc.? Seems like most stock Yammies with even a lot of ballast still have trouble producing a deep/strong enough pocket for any real surf-able wave WITHOUT a Wake Wedge or something similar.

Cheers and thanks in advance.

I run a wake wedge, and Gantlin’s rear transom bag , that’s it on my boat , I know other people run more , but me and my family are happy with it , me and my wife and son really enjoy this setup , and as far as surfing , just practice , we got 360 spins done , and working on getting air , I just have a hard time getting my rear foot up and getting my knees up

I'd be fucked. I have 3" in my garage. Wonder if i can order the new hinges for the seats and add them myself. If these new nozzles work as they say would it make TV's and laterals thrusters obsolete?
