Hi,

I love my boat!, really! But...
Since 2014, my boat was at the dealer 3-4 times a year!

I have 217 hours on it.

I spent over 15K in repairs/maintenance and I don't talk about the items who was repair under the warranty!

Just in 2017 and 2018, these items below was replaced, imagine what they replaced in 2014 and 2015 !!!
  • Ignition Coil
  • Throttle Body Actuator
  • Wiring harness Cat
  • ECM
  • Resonator Outlet Hose
  • Oxygen Sensor Failure
  • Catalyst & O-Ring
  • Intercooler
I just spent 2K to clean the entire boat (compound, engine cleaning, trailer, etc.).
The boat is so clean so I'm thinking that it's time to take pictures and sell it. But it's always the same problem with the financing, the boat value is the less than my loan! I feel that everything was replaced on the boat so maybe I'm good for at least 2 years without repairs? I love jet boat for sand bar in south Florida.

Decision...
Sell it on the market? Is it a risk with all possible future problems that the new owner will have?
I'm thinking to trade it for a standard 19 feet outboard engine like Chaparral?
Trade-in for a Yamaha jet boat? All dealers including those who sell Scarab and Yamaha told me that Scarab are still better than Yamaha! Weird...
Trade-in for a new Scarab without I hope all the catastrophic 2014 problem I had?

Not an easy decision...

Thanks
Dominic

Hi Dom,
Wow! You haven’t had any luck.
I’m currently looking at purchasing a 2014 215 HO Impulse with 115hours. After reading all the posts on this site I’m now second guessing my decision. Did ALL 2014 Scarabs have major issues? Is this the right boat to buy for my family? Am I about to make a major mistake?
The boat is clean and has been gone over by a scarab dealer. O2 sensor and a elbow for a ballast tank needed replacing. Compression test on the engines checked out and scarab tells me the only work done under warranty on the boat was to the wake tower and the radio.

Please advise,
Worried purchaser!

It sounds like they sent the parts cannon guy instead of the mechanic with diagnostic skills. It's a bad time to sell. I think all boats have problems, hopefully yours are done. I'd keep it.

I think the Scarabs look awesome!!! But..... look at all the posts on here pertaining to them. There are a fraction of the issues with Yamaha’s. I’d stay as far away as possible.

I too had similar issues with my 2014 195 HOI, thankfully everything was covered under warranty and I was able to get Scarab to extend my warranty due to all the issues. The key is to find the right Dealer to Repair. @Ron@Scarab is the man. Its been about 1 1/2 years since he repaired my issues under warranty and I've been fine since with the exception of little sensor issues that could be dealt with easily. I also have a local guy in pompano who's great but doesn't do warranty work.
