I use my Nissan Frontier. It does the job but I’ve learned that having way more power and towing capacity that you need is never bad.

I forgot to post my new tow pig when I bought it this past spring. 2017 Ram 1500 Big Horn CC with the 5.7 and hwy gears. I typically get about 15 mpg towing at 65-70mph on my 2.5 hour weekend trip to the cabin (pretty well loaded up) which is the same my '11 V6 Grand Cherokee got. I am a tiny bit disappointed in the torque curve at the low end, but once you kick it down a gear and get a few more RPMs she moves with purpose. It's a really comfortable ride, especially with some weight on the back end. We took her from MN to Nashville this past summer and averaged 21-22mpg and my ass wasn't sore when we got there. I can barely stand the seats in my wife's CR-V for the 2.5 hour trip to the cabin.

Love the new 190 color!
Thanks! I am very glad I held out for the blue, I almost went with black just to get it a month earlier but decided to be patient, as hard as it was.

Thats a great looking combo! How does the old K-10 (?) tow? I would think the brakes are the weak link?
Its a K20 3/4 ton with 1 ton axles. Dana 60 front . 14 bolt 13 inch rear drum. Biggest brakes from a 1 ton.

I am truly jealous. Those square body chevys are getting harder and harder to find in decent shape.

I’ve had it 15 years. Needs new paint. Looks good from 15 feet, not so good close up. Peeling and faded. Not driven in winter.

First long trip. If i keep it at the highest gear at 65 mph i got 16 mpg. If i go 70-75 where it downshifts the whole way i got 12. 2018 Tacoma. Should have bought the full size pickup.

I get about 16-17mpg commuting back and forth to work in my 1500 GMC (30 miles one way with 90% highway). Get around 12-13 towing through the hills on the expressway.

On our first boat ('98 Rinker 182) I had a 2004 S10 crewcab pickup. It was rated at 5,200lbs, and towed the boat acceptably. I could not keep that truck cool, no matter what I did, it would overheat under extended loading. Tried 2-3 different fans, several thermostats, even bought a custom 4 row radiator, and moved the trans cooler to under the bed. Just wouldn't stay cool. Traded it for a fullsize SUV (2003 Yukon), and that vehicle gave ZERO craps about towing. Trans/engine temps never rose above normal. Total cost of ownership was about the same. Few more dollars in payment, few less dollars in insurance, about a wash in maintenance and fuel. The added capability was HUGELY worth it though. Same thing with our AR190. Brougth it home behind a midsized SUV (Trailblazer SS). Also couldn't keep that one cool. Towed it with the Traverse a few times, also nearly the limit with that one. Bought the Sierra, and again, it gives zero craps about what it's towing. It always stays cool, runs strong, and gets the job done without any drama.

After owning a fullsize pickup for a little over a year now.......I completely get why they are so popular. This is easily the closest thing to a Swiss Army Knife of a vehicle I can imagine. I've driven clients/customers around in it when they were in town, I've hauled dirt/hay/rock/mulch with it, towed several cars on trailers, made road trips in comfort. All the luxury of a high end european sedan, all the utility of a farm truck, with the biggest penalty being shear size in smaller parking lots, and even that isn't much of a penalty. I'll have a fullsize pickup for the forseeable future......unless I win the lottery and can afford a place on the lake, then I'll sell all my cars and pay for my buddies to come visit me :D

Does the trick for me. Plenty for the 190. 2010 1500 5.3. Of course starting to get the rust on passenger side over rear wheel. I do like the tundras though. Might be my next vehicle in a few years.

2018 Jeep Cherokee, V6 with factory tow package. Never thought this truck would tow as well as it does. I’m really impressed so far how it handles pulling the boat.

Does anybody tow behind a Ram 1500 with the V6? Looking to upgrade from an older F150 5.0 and would love to get better MPG of the V6 if it tows well.

I used to tow my AR192 with the V6 Grand Cherokee (same 3.6l engine) and the engine did just fine. It would struggle if you really tried to accelerate hard, but for normal driving I had no issues with it. I only had the 5-speed trans in my Jeep and I bet the 8-speed would help with that a little. If you are at all considering upgrading to a larger boat in the near future I think I would opt for the V8 or Ford 3.5l EcoBoost. It could be just fine though if properly geared.

2012 Toyota Sienna AWD (has a 266 HP V6) towing an AR 192. Works fine, not lacking for power even climbing pretty good grades (we live in PA and have a 10% grade to get to where we launch).
