Today was the day that the old 2 stroke went to a new home. I had put a fair bit into the boat over the past 3 years with 2 new motors and new upholstery. The boat looks and runs great so I couldn’t bear to see it go 2 to a stranger. My girlfriends adult son from Rumson, NJ has it now and will use it on the more protected waters of the Navasink and Shrewsbury rivers. I’ll still get to visit it now and then.

Of course I will ease the pain a bit when I pick up my 2016 242 Limted S in a few weeks. Currently it’s still in winter storage. I myself was the benefactor of a very generous deal on this boat from a good friend that couldn’t bear to see it go to a stranger. He’s ordered the new Yamaha 275 SD.

I will miss the DIY nature of the old 2 stroke but I’m looking forward to a larger boat with a proper windshield for the ladies.

My condolences and also congratulations :)

You’ll love the 242, it should be quite an upgrade. I’d like to hear what you think of the 275 also, if you ever get a chance to go out in it.

After having 2 stroke for 14 years, I do not miss carburators one bit. God bless fuel injection!!!!! The upgrade will feel awesome.

Yes we plan to enjoy the 242 and our friends with the 275 are close by so we will see the newest Yamaha jet boat first hand this spring.

We can't wait. The new boat is in excellent condition and we are very familiar with how it was used and maintained. We really wanted a larger boat that could be used comfortably in a little rougher water.

Just make sure you get the title and all, your friend may come after you to get his boat back, lol. Does he plan to trailer the 275 or keep it on a lift? Let us know how it does in the real world, no owner reviews yet.

Sorry to see you trade and I’ll miss your input on 2 strokes. 242 will be very different and I’ll be interested to hear your feedback.

Yep title is all done. We both have lifts so I’ll have the 242 on our lift and he’ll have the new 275 on his. He knows he will be somewhat of a pioneer with the 275 but we have a great Yamaha dealer here in Bayside Jetdrive. I am sure he did a much due diligence as possible. It will be a fun spring and summer with both boats. Expect plenty of pictures.

Lol I’m still planning on putting my 2 cents in on the 2 stroke forum. I always received lots of help and I plan to continue to contribute. I think what I will miss the most is the ability to work on the boat myself. The 2 strokes were straight forward this new boat may not be as DIY friendly.
