After looking at all of the options to reduce the ride height for the passenger seat, we decided to swap out the standard 212ss passenger seat & pedestal and go with the 212x bench seat configuration.

I know in the past there were some folks looking for this passenger seat as they were converting from the X to the SS. If anyone is looking to do this, message me and we can see if we can come to a number that works to buy my seat. Yamaha is pretty proud of the new ones it seems with seat and pedestal coming in around $850-$900. This one is in great shape. 2014 212ss standard color scheme. I think this seat is the same for 2012-2014, but they added another color stripe in 2015 to the bench seat cushion, so not sure if that changed the seat or not.

Well, I was able to get the base seat and front pad for about $400 total, so was quite pleased. Got the passenger seat removed and the new AR-style cushion installed. Looks good. Colors match really well. Just thought I would post the final result. Have a great day all!! Spring is just around the corner!!!

I have a 2014 212x and have actually thought about changing over, or at least having the option to switch back and forth. I will let you know if I decide to do it. Your switch over came out great.

I know that SS -> X is about half of the cost for the conversion, as they are really proud of the seats. Is the platform in the X where the passenger seat goes already drilled for the base mounting holes (6 holes I believe)? I can't recall for certain, but seem to remember that there were mounting nuts formed in to the base area that the seat mount bolts screwed in to, so be sure to take that in to account as you order parts.

Good luck with the conversion!!

Thanks for the info. I will have to look when I summarize it in a few months. I don’t believe there is anything there right now.
