I’m looking to add a little bass to the boat. Does anyone have any experience or able to offer a review on the Wet Sounds AS-10 enclosed and amplified speaker?

I added a pair of Rev 10s to the tower bar primary so we could play music for the kids while we tow them on the tubes. They are certainly loud but just don’t offer any ‘thump’ for the people on the boat. I’m looking for a rather ‘easy’ solution and not going for show quality sound system.

1. Does an AS-10 sound decent?
2. Would you recommend it?
3. Do you know of a better solution?
4. Is a 10” big enough or should I be looking to stuff a 12” somewhere?

I believe @CDENsomnia has one under his front bow seat. Says it sounds much better when he lifts the seat.

Edit: He has an X series, so already has the factory sub as well.

If you plan on putting it under the seats or in a storage compartment you are wasting your money unless you vent it. If you are going to cut a vent hole you might as well just install an infinite baffle sub. I have used a 10" on my Yamaha and installed a 12" Wetsounds IB sub in my MasterCraft. They take up way less room than an enclosed sub and really sound good.

I put an AS-10 in my 242 this year under the STBD rear seat. Not impressed for the money to be honest it’s deep but not real loud in my opinion and if I turn the remote gain up it will go into safety. I’ve tried with the seat on and off and don’t notice much of a difference. I’d be interested to hear if anyone had an as10 and then went to a free air sub to see if it was louder.

After the two comments here it's got me thinking that maybe the AS-10 isn't the way to go.

I really don't want to deal with a box and losing storage space. I spent last night looking into 'Free Air' woofers. I'm thinking about cutting a hole in the fibreglass and putting a single 12" behind the passenger seat (sorry, I don't speak nautical terms). Or, maybe 2 10" woofers. One behind the driver seat and one behind the passenger seat. I'd like to do a 12" because that's what I had in my car when I was 16. But maybe that's not the way to go. Thoughts anyone? Think a single 10" or two 10" is a better idea?

I'm also thinking about power consumption. Right now with my single amp and 2 Rev 10s I can sit at the sandbar ALL day and not have an power issue. The music isn't cranked either though. By adding a 2nd or bigger amp to push more speakers, either 10"(s) or a 12" I don't want to drastically increase my power consumption.

I'm not looking to be the DJ of the sandbar or anything. But I am looking to add some bass for when that one killer song does come on and the music gets turned up.... Or at least until the wife makes me turn it down.. =)

I went with one 10" along with gain control knob and am quite happy with it. Compliments the rest of the system but also let's me turn up the bass for songs that deserve it.Boat.jpg

Where did you mount your gain control knob? I really like this idea and location of the sub. I was thinking of putting it behind the passenger chair and tapping into the storage compartment by the batteries but I like this MUCH better. This wouldn't cause me to lose any storage space.
