I bought a 2014 212X about two months ago and it gave my brother in law the new boat itch. He bought a Sanger 237ls, 2014. I had my first chance to be out on the lake at the same time as he this last weekend. He and his son have been trying to get the hang of the wake surf thing and I rode out with them to check it out. The wake the boat generated was narrow and looked as though it had a lot of air in it. He had all his ballest bags filled, playing around with 1 side empty etc. it's about a 4,000 lb boat and I could feel the extra thousand pounds when I took the helm got a through the water. We went back an traded his boat for mine. They brought their gear to check out the wake on my 212x. The yamaha wake spreads out a lot wider. Less air was in the wake and it was just as tall as the Sanger's wake, in fact, I think the yamaha was a little taller than the Sanger wake we produced at the same speed. My nephew seemed to like the wake from the 212 better! Not worth the extra$$$$ for sure. If you are a wake surfer, my advice would be to check out the yamaha at almost half the price!

I am not familiar with that particular boat but My guess is that they didn't have anywhere near enough weight in the boat. On friends Malibu and axis wakeboats, we run 2400 minimum and 3200 average. Have run as much as 4000 in the axis. Makes a huge difference. Frothiness of the wake sounds like a speed issue. ( too slow).

Add the #wakewedge to the Yamaha as well and you will not be missing a thing.

Tha boat weighs 4,150 + 1,200 ballast, we were running about 10-13 mph... On the Sanger.

My 212x weighs 3,100 + 750 in ballast, same speed. The wake was way wider than the Sanger there was about a 5 foot area with very little froth. I should have taken a picture!

I don't think many people that researched Boats thoroughly ... would Pay twice the $$$ for a SANGER over a Yamaha?
$40 k vs $80k?? for a SANGER?? Something is missing from this equation??

A properly setup Sanger will surf just fine.

The Sanger owner probably does not know how to set up his wake right yet, but it does look like that boat needs a lot of list and weight. Many of us spent years perfecting the Yamaha surfwake on our boats, with less than stellar results to start. @sx210owner and @jcyamaharider have like a year and a half of research into their wedge alone.

$ for $, the Yamaha is an incredible boat, I would buy one again in a heartbeat if I was not set on a pure surf boat this time around. The wedge helps a Yamaha create an awesome surf wake, especially when adding ballast. A dedicated wake boat should beat a Yamaha hands down in wake sport wake and wake sport versatility if set up right, and most likely do so with ballast loads accounted for within the boats capacity plate numbers. That, along with customization, high end integrated ballast systems and stereo is part of the $$ you pay for a dedicated wake boat. With Yamaha's increase in MSRP the last few years (and the ability to deal heavily off MSRP on other boats), the jump from one to the other isn't as far as you would think. At the end of the day, you have to choose what is most important for your boating style and needs and spend your $$ there.

All that said, my 230 was a great boat and I do love the upgrades Yamaha brought to the table this time around!

Each there own on what kind of boat they like , I love mine it's so vestal , and does every thing I want it to do one cool thing with the wedge is I can throw a great wave and stay in my weight limit of 1840 if I just run my # 1000 pounder under my seat and just have me and the wife and a friend or two I'm under my weight limit and still makes a awesome wave :) but the hot roder in me likes to amp it up :) if I was a hard core boarder then I prob would get a dedicated wake boat , but I'm just a middle age old fart that likes to have fun , I have the same amount of fun no matter what boat I'm behind , so that said just have fun with what you have :)

Here is a vid of just my 1000 bag under the seat filled and me driving , and my wife giving instruction , and my son in the boat , under the weight limit and making a awesome wave !!! We didn't go full ballast because it's easier to teach on a smaller wave

Pictures are making me sad that I have to wait 8 months to go wake surfing again! Stupid long winters in Canada. But upgrading the ballast this winter, 800 in ski locker, 450 on seat if no people, and stock 700 filled. Add wake wedge and I should throw a decent wave!
