If you can easily move around 45 lb plate at the gym you should be fine. I wouldn't move them around other than 2 sacks to the surf side depending on surfer. I never ran stock ballast mate. We run 1250 lbs of lead. If I had any faith in WaveMaker I'd order bags to get rid of all the lead, but I have none sadly. All my weight is hidden beneath the bags.- Arcadyus

Labor Day Weekend

sorry it's perfect pass it's a cruise control of sorts. It allows you to dial in speeds at.1mph so we surf at 11.1-11.3 depending on wind not weight of rider. Don't try and carve it's fun but counter productive. Just find the push. Be able to stay there without the rope before trying to carve...- Arcadyus

Board is a huge factor but so is technique. I have a friend who goes with me almost always last 2 years barely goes ropeless. Another friend same time can go ropeless as long as he wants. Both use my boards. I don't agree with going slower. Id actually go faster. But about 11 doesn't really work...- Arcadyus

So next you'll want to work on very slow movements to stay in the pocket. Don't worry about making turns yet.
