Pump Cone Oil Bath Mod - Long Term Results

Just changed the oil yesterday. Oil bath looks good. I def have some water intrusion into one cone and will have to change the seal. Bearings are good and the oil absorbs the water nicely. Cam.

Wakesurf Boards 2017 - How to Build Your Own

You start exactly like a wakesurf board. The only difference is that you turn the board to follow the boat right away. On this foil you are out of the water by the time the board has moved 3 or 4 feet. Bit like riding an elevator. The sensation of speed is much higher. Cam.

Wakesurf Boards 2017 - How to Build Your Own

Boating season has ended for us so any mods I will do over the winter and test in the spring. With all the fire smoke in the area the air and water temps have plummeted. Water was 65F yesterday. That is what we normally get in early May. Since the foil is built as modules it will be easy to...

Wakesurf Boards 2017 - How to Build Your Own

Did a test day today. Water was very cold. These things are hard to ride. Probably need to make some adjustments. Very cool but weird feeling. I suspect that the main wing is too big. This thing flies at 5kmh and leaps out of the water like a porpose at surf speed. Very little pull is...

Wakesurf Boards 2017 - How to Build Your Own

Started the board last nite. It measures 48" x 20"x 1/2". Here are some prelim pics. Board is 2 layers of 6mm baltic birch plywood. BB plywood has a high ply count. 2 layers are laminated together with 2 layers of 6oz cloth between, then clamped to a form to give the nose a curve. Ran out...

Wakesurf Boards 2017 - How to Build Your Own

Will be working on the board tomorrow. Smoke is gone and temp is back in the 30C range so anxious to get this thing flying. Cam.

Wakesurf Boards 2017 - How to Build Your Own

One spot where I broke with foil tradition is wing placement. Almost all foils have the main wing "below" the body and the tail wing "above" the body. The relative position makes no difference to the performance but when assembling it is far easier to have a foil that the flat surfaces touch...

Wakesurf Boards 2017 - How to Build Your Own

I am a bit slow in posting pics. Here is the completed foil. The design goal was to have the foil assembled as components so that any part can be changed or modified for better performance. To achieve this I used 1" square aluminum tubing for the body, rather than wood. To prevent crushing...

Wakesurf Boards 2017 - How to Build Your Own

A little late but here are some preliminary pics. Goal is easy constructability. Fuselage is 1" alum square tubing and will have an square oak filler pounded in so that through bolts wont collapse the tubing when tightened. A belt sander with 24GR is used to shape the wings. I built the mast...

Do you carry a firearm aboard your boat?

We just carry beer. Pass a couple beers out and all is good. Cam.

    Anyone with Lawn Sprinkler Experience?

Easy to design and install. Mine has been running 25 years. I suggest getting a controller that had a % dial. Once you get the various zone watering times figured you then dial it up or down depending on the season. Cam

    Overland Camping

    It's ski season

When searching for boots beware of intolution liners. If you have vascular feet they hug the feet too closely and cut off circulation. Feel great while fitting but turned into seasons of frozen feet for me and my wife. We chose poorly. Cam

    Wakeboarding

Even with practice it is hard to keep an even speed, especially slow when surfing. Cam.

    Wakeboarding

If your wife pulls YOU I would highly suggest buying some type of speed control ASAP. It will save you tons of divorce money later. Consider it an investment in harmony. Seriously, twin jets are hard to speed control, while any wake boat has a single prop AND speed control. I have the...

    Fuel Stabilizer

I have always used the regular but maybe I will try the 360 this year. I just filled up with 94 in prep for storage. Cam.

    Saving for college questions

Same for me. My only reason for success and having a great life is my engineering degree. For our kids we insisted they get a degree. One is done and one is starting. We are paying for their education but remind them not to expect an inheritance since we are going to party until it is all gone...

    Saving for college questions

We did it differently. Used pre-college money to pay off all debts. Now we pay for university out of cash flow. Ours is about $25k per year. Cam
