One picture of your last outing.

We had to dodge these all last weekend, torrential rain for about 10 minutes then blazing sun

NOT another timing chain thread Thankfully!!

There wasn't any, don't think it ran long enough to leave a noticable amount of water

NOT another timing chain thread Thankfully!!

Finally figured out what was going on, the rubber hose connecting the waterbox to the engine had come off, starving the engine of fresh air while at idle. Ran fine on the trailer with the seat off.

I wondered if low battery would cause this but I have had Yamaha boats since '04 and have had low batteries before but never experienced this problem

It will be 2 weeks before I get back to it but I will update with what I find, just glad it's not the chain!

The plugs were defiantly dry, I hope it is just a bad plug but I'm sure that is a long shot. I have never seen one just go bad.

I did inspect the plugs and they looked brand new

Thanks for the reply Scott, I don't have the YDS unless it is the same for the older 1.6l that I had in my '05. Otherwise I will buy it. There was no smoke and I only ran it for a few seconds out of the water with no hose (cant find the hose adapter). It is a good idea to get the YDS though

I know I should probably post this on a waverunner forum but I am not a member of any and you all know these engines well. I have an '11 Waverunner VXS with the 1.8 and 100 hours. Last weekend We used it a lot and had no issues, it sat in the water overnight and in the morning I was going to...

    Another Hydroturf horror story

What @Beachbummer said, it doesn't do well on the black turf but does a good job on the left over glue.

Boat lift required for a Yamaha 242?

We had a 4500# Polylift at the last house and it worked fine. At the new place we checked with the local dealers and they recommended going with at least a 6000# if your dock will be in rough water. Makes sense because with heavy wave action the boat will bounce up and down dramatically. I saw...

    Jet Docks

Thanks for the reply @seadude, If I go this route I will probably go with the extension which will fill my 10x24 slip and hopefully make it easier to launch.

    Jet Docks

@seadude I am considering the same wave port for our slip, maybe you can answer a few questions. How do you launch the boat, does it push easily or is there a winch? How far down in the water does the lift sink when the boat is on? Does it need to be removed if the water freezes? Sorry to hijack...

    ‘18 Battery Relocate- Moved Back

I added a second battery and put both on a slide to get them all of the way back against the rear of the compartment, works great and freed up a lot of space, but there is 1 unintended consequence. With all of that weight all of in the back corner the boat lists slightly to port. I notice it...
