    2018 Lake Shelbyville Gathering July 25 - July 29, 2018

Unfortunately due to our move, we will not be able to attend this year. :( But, my loss can be someone's gain, Cabin 1 is now available! We'll miss seeing everyone this year, but will be back next year!

3rd annual Alabama Jetboaters Gathering ~ Lake Martin, AL ~ August 10th-12th 2018

Yeah, the base camp will not be far at all form Harbor Pointe. I think that might have been where @haknslash stopped for fuel once last year... If you can come out, it would be awesome to have you!

    Custom SwimDeck Ballast Bag project

I have no doubt that wave is going to be awesome. I surged behind that boat with standard ballast (I think just one bag?) and the wave was decent. The way it looks in the pictures, thabag plus a few people to move around will be a great combo.

    Yamaha announces new engine!!!

The Seven Marine 627’s are more like $90k. That’s almost a half million dollars of motor. “As the horsepower climbs, so do the prices. The 557 costs $79,590; the new 627 goes for almost $90,000.” https://www.soundingsonline.com/.amp/boats/horses-galore

    Running on one engine

Yes, with the other engine running, you’re completely fine to run as hard as you want.

    Custom SwimDeck Ballast Bag project

Never had an issue with getting beyond 10 mph, but we have perfect pass, so it does the thinking. The sweet spot for my boat is around 2k lbs. 800 on the port seat, 540 on the swim deck, and 540 on the floor. More weight than that becomes counterproductive. These new swim deck bags look...

    @zelone sent you a pm.

    Mildew/mold

I have used the Starbrite mold and mildew remover, but I don’t believe it’s all that different from any bleach based cleaner. I got so fed up with the mildew that I started removing the bimini and storing it in the garage between outings.

Towing 2016 242 without cover. Is it safe?

The link below is black tape that appears to be the equivalent of painters tape. @haknslash ProTapes Colored Crepe Paper Masking Tape, 60 yds Length x 1" Width, Black (Pack of 1) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DVAT4ZS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_A3d-Ab6J1900J

    Bimini top effect on MPH

The Bimini shouldn’t have that much of an effect. It will have some, but not enough to make the boat struggle to plane. Did you notice any water in the bilge? These boats are notorious for leaks from the factory and a few hundred pounds of water could certainly have the described effect on...

Need new Bimini for 2011 242 Limited S

I just realized that I never posted on this thread... I used @piney1’s guy and everything turned out great. I had him make it all the same, but also purchased a replacement boot to match. He’s a true craftsman and the custom canvas was cheaper than a stock replacement!

We’ll push them hard at Shelbyville... after a couple dozen jello and pudding shots. ;)

    Relocating to Louisiana

Thanks @ROBERT MCNABB. The 200 looks like an awesome event. I just googled it and watched some vids. There are some crazy go fast boats out there.

    Relocating to Louisiana

Yep, we have a relatively new plant down there that has had its struggles. Our company has a really good relocation policy, so it makes the move pretty painless.

It was a super fun night! Even though we didn’t do any boating. Good to see you @haknslash

    Cushioned ball mount

We used these on the farm when I was growing up. IMO they act a lot like the surge brake actuator, give the "bang, bang" when stopping / starting. I didn't think it helped much, but we were also pulling huge wagons and trailers, so for something light like our boats, they may make a difference.
