    2018 242x Bimini Discussion

Just sold my 242X but: -Towed with bimini on most wknds. 45 minutes at 50, maybe 55. -If going further, or faster, take bimini off. Don't usually tow any faster than 70ish. -Take bimini off for Winter storage, as well as take speakers off (Virginia) and cover with shipping cover (save the black...

Rear speakers not working. Assume a connection, but where/which?

No way of insulting a noob at anything,..., but yes I did move the sound fwd and aft and confirmed that just the inside rear speakers were not working. Speakers on swim platform do work.

Rear speakers not working. Assume a connection, but where/which?

Frankly can’t be sure they have ever worked as the tower speakers so overpower them. Only noticed b/c had stereo on while Re-installing tower speakers from Winter storage. I’m a noob with the factory stereo. Never touched it. Where would i look for the problem? Thank you!

    Anyone in Northern Virginia Area?

I had a lot of work (warranty) done at FXBG Motor Sports. Speak to "Lock". He leads service and is knowledgable. Been a bit since having work done,..., hope he's still there- I had work done over last Winter, and they just kept the boat out back till Spring.

First Ballast Fill for '16 242X...how?

Seems the pumps are vulnerable to shorting out. Now I know when a ballast pump does not work, quickly look at the 'system' screen. Verify the shorted pump. Shut down boat. Hard reboot at battery switch. Then all is well and get on with surfing. I surf intermittently so can't speak to cause...

    Fishing rod/reel holder

Does not block use of wet storage compartments. We keep all our noodles and wet life preservers in those compartments.

Northerners, how late do you keep going out?

Since my Winterization process only takes by 2 min per engine, I'll Winterize each time. Once I get to March, I won't bother anymore-

Looking for 2017 Bimini Trip photos

Was talking about this with my kids last night and they asked if a, "I survived Bimini 2017" shirt was ever made? If so, by who? My family (5) would all want one-

Looking for 2017 Bimini Trip photos

as the resident 'sailor' (I jet in between), "Gentlemen do not sail TO weather." Basically, point upwind. And as a catamaran guy, this is doubly true (they point badly, compared to monohulls.) By the way, I read this and could not help but think of the end of Animal House. "Did we give up...

Yamaha Extended Warranty Do I need?

Bought a new '16, in Oct/Nov '15. Had the dealer wait to register the sale until after the new year as Yamaha almost always offers a 'free' extra year of warranty in the new year (boat show season.) Bottom-line, got 2 years of warranty, for the baked-in price of 1. There were a lot of new...

Jet boating in Oahu Hawaii... bad idea?

As former Marine and current jetboater, the question to bring or store a boat for a tour at K-Bay, is a 'no-brainer' for me. YES, bring! Here's why: -I am very comfortable on boats. Whole life. Sailing, power, oceans, rough inlets,..., and my family is mostly completely comfortable too. -I...

    Home automation

Very happy- We have. “Floodlight Cam” over our garage door, that simply replaced the simple flood light. Also added a “Ring Chime Pro” that both extended our WiFi to the driveway & allowed a audible chime when movement detected on driveway. (Blindspot to our home.).

2017 242X Solar panels not working

Just to 'complete the loop' on my solar issue- Changed the connection on the port side tower connection- Changed the 5A fuse (again)- Checked batteries early Sun AM (pre-sun) and had 12.96, on both- 6 hours later, when home from church, and sunny, batteries were reading 13.4 (Charging!; these...

2017 242X Solar panels not working

My numbers are not too far from those. It is a bit frustrating to see that drastic change. With that said, have never had an issue while on the water, nor with the solar recharging for the next adventure. Frankly, in Bimini for 9 days and never plugged the boat in. Didn't bring a charger. And...

2017 242X Solar panels not working

Found the source of my charging issues- Found the 5A fuse blown and replaced- Further investigating, if for no reason other than to understand the system better, discovered this in the port tower connector- Totally corroded. Looking at it can't be sure if it was from water incursion (note end...
