    15 242 trashcan

I use plastic liner bags in it. If there is nothing in the can, the bag can flip out (inside out) at speeds over 40mph or so - it only happened once though. If there's anything even a little heavy, no problems. I've never had anything blow out of there, but I guess if it was full with light...

    The 2015 24x issues thread...

@bobs4state Mine also takes on water through the anchor locker drain hole, especially if you have a lot of passengers on board and at slow/no-wake speeds. I rarely use the Danforth anchor located in this locker, so I installed a small rubber plug in the hole from inside the anchor locker...

    15 242 trashcan

@Julian - it is working really well. The only issue I had is that that area where I have the can isn't level - there is a gap at the bottom front edge. I solved this by attaching a couple of self-stick rubber feet, about 1/2" thick to the bottom of the can. I also attached one to the back of...

Where is everyone putting their fenders?

This is exactly what I've been looking for -- just ordered 2 sets. Thanks!

Proposed Yamaha 242 Limited S E-series audio upgrade

@Jace LaValle - yes, the bow speakers and tweeter crossovers+tweeters (not only the tweeters) are wired in parallel, but the effective impedance seen by the amp will depend on frequency. All the bass goes up to the bow for example (because it would damage the tower tweeters). So at low...

Is it normal for engines to have a buzzing sound when in float mode?

@Rod5 - mine does it, too. Same buzzing noise as you have heard, but it is not audible unless I open the engine hatch. Is my Yamaha trying to tell me I should turn off the key when anchoring?

Installed second bilge pump with float switch today

I'm thinking now about maybe replacing the existing 3/4" thru-hull bilge fitting with a 1 1/8" one like shown below...

Installed second bilge pump with float switch today

@Jay Petzold - Yes, I wired a 10A inline fuse within the first few inches of wire coming off the house battery. I used 10A because the pump is rated at 4A current and I thought maybe a 5A fuse was cutting it a bit close. But I think Rule recommended a 5A fuse.

Installed second bilge pump with float switch today

@Julian - I didn't remove the solar panels, but I don't think they would help much in my case because its usually nearly sunset when I tie up at the end of the day. And on top of that, the boat gets re-stacked the next morning inside a dark warehouse with boats above it and to the sides. The...

Installed second bilge pump with float switch today

@Addicted - you make a good point about the second thru-hull fitting - with both pumps on, I agree the output will be limited by that shared section of 3/4" hose. It would certainly be less flow than if there were two thru-hull fittings. @jkl3991 - I mounted the 2nd pump and switch to a small...

Just bought the Polk PA D5000.5

I just added the same Polk amp and used a 60A fuse. In my case, the amp drives the stock Polk bow and cabin speakers and also a Polk dual voice coil sub. No issues so far - I agree that 60A should work fine. This is the install kit I used...

Proposed Yamaha 242 Limited S E-series audio upgrade

The panel is the "forward bulkhead" under the rear seat on the port side, next to the batteries. This is where the Polk head unit is mounted in my 242.

Installed sea deck and not to ecstatic about it.

I can understand why it would bother you since you installed it and had to fight with it. I would have found it frustrating. But it won't be as noticeable with the seat in place, and I like the PlastiDip idea - that will peel right off if you work up an edge and pull on it hard, so it is not...

Installed second bilge pump with float switch today

I installed a second bilge pump today with a float switch, wired directly to the house battery. I wanted this for peace of mind, but also because the stock configuration doesn't work well for boats that are stored in dry stack. When I return to dock after a day of boating, I tie up and head...

Proposed Yamaha 242 Limited S E-series audio upgrade

@Kevin M - I described the install over in another thread, I've quoted it below. No issues with the install.

    Which way does yours fold?

Just a quick update to say that my anchor light was installed backwards. I unscrewed the two mounting screws, rotated it by 180 degrees and reattached. Now the light folds properly to starboard and it is reachable through the access flap in the bimini.

    Which way does yours fold?

I was trying to figure out the anchor light on my new 242 today. The zippered access flap in the bimini is on the starboard side, but my light was folded (and zip-tied down, actually) to port. Here's a view looking toward the stern: Well, it is extremely hard to reach the light on the port...

Anybody connect extra LEDs to the courtesy lights switched on by the connext screen?

I'm guessing that since Connext allows the user to change the brightness of the tower and courtesy lights, that these outputs are probably switched by MOSFET transistors and not ordinary mechanical relays. That configuration would make it very easy for the Connext firmware to change the...

Anybody connect extra LEDs to the courtesy lights switched on by the connext screen?

@subysti - I would be interested in this schematic as well.
