    Booster ball recommendations

I have an aftermarket tower on my SX230 and it's really reinforced under the hull. I've been towing little kids, max 120 lb combined weight, for a long time (many years) with zero issues. That said, I am willing to more closely align to manufacturer recommendations and stop being such a rebel...

    Hull Cleaning Recommendations

I use straight up muriatic acid. Wear gloves. Wet the trailer and rinse it if you get any on it. I just put some on a rag and wipe it on. Wait a few minutes and then powerwash it off. $5 a gallon at Rural King etc and that will last you YEARS. I also use it for little things like cleaning bare...

    Gas can options

For me, there is no other gas can better than these. I bought eight of them years ago, and got rid of all the plastic junk except for two little 1 gallon cans I use for lawn equipment...

Trailer brake line replacement, and A60 internals...

I just talked to the guy at my local boat place and we went over all the options. It seems like buying the internal parts will cost more than a new slide. Additionally, I had upgraded my brakes (due to PA state law) a few years ago from single axle brakes to brakes on all axles. We aren't...

Trailer brake line replacement, and A60 internals...

Fixing up my old MFI tandem trailer so I can take it on a FL trip this year, and one thing leads to another. I started out just needing to replace the breakaway cable... then after running into issues with the brake line connector being seized at the master cylinder, I went back to the axle to...

2004 Yamaha sx230 Water In oIl

So... I had this "issue" with my 2004 SX230. I don't know if it was from the factory or from a previous owner. I was getting electrical gremlins, like you are having. One engine starts, you go to start the other one and the other one shuts off, weird stuff like that. Anyways... the issue was...

Planning a FL Gulf 10 night vacation with the boat. Suggestions?

Yep, nothing for our time span in Ft Walton/Navarre area. (Pet friendly takes a lot off the board)

Planning a FL Gulf 10 night vacation with the boat. Suggestions?

We looked at, and would like to go someday, to Destin. It's a couple hundred miles closer to us, and we haven't been there before. I had started my search there. The problem is that there's little chance that we can get a pet-friendly stay with boating accommodations right now at a reasonable...

Planning a FL Gulf 10 night vacation with the boat. Suggestions?

We're looking to do a 10 night stay in August. 4 people, my boat, and our dog. Looking currently in the Cape Coral area mostly because I'm fairly familiar with the area and there's lots of places with boat slips/lifts. A few questions... First, anyone have any inside lines on a well priced...

MR1 engine overheating on the hose; steam coming from pisser.

OK thanks everyone for the advice... but it ended up being something pretty dumb that I didn't think of. I got up this morning and double/triple checked all the water lines, no kinks anywhere in them. I started it up on the hose again, and the overheat light came on again a few minutes later. I...

MR1 engine overheating on the hose; steam coming from pisser.

I thought that we did, but when I checked with my son (who was outside the boat while I was changing the oil on the non-overheating engine, he said it was just steam. So I guess that's a non-issue...

MR1 engine overheating on the hose; steam coming from pisser.

No, as a matter of fact I just went out and checked the oil I removed. I had put it in an old windshield washer fluid bottle so I'd be able to see any water after it separated. Nothing but dark oil in it.

MR1 engine overheating on the hose; steam coming from pisser.

Changing the oil on my boat today, the port side went fine without incident. I switched over to starboard, fired up the engine and turned on the hose. After a while the water came from the exhaust like it should. But after a while I noticed the RPMs going up, and I noticed that the temperature...

I am a little unsure of where i should start with oil capacity.

Measure what you take out. Put back in the same amount. Then I always take oil with me on the first run after changing it, and after warming it up, I check the oil on the water since the boat WILL be level there. I never had great luck leveling it in my driveway.

Favorite song to hear while boating?

It's my thing to play Gin and Juice while cruising out from the party spot at no wake speed each time.... I'm the whitest guy you'd know but I got that song DOWN! LOL

Canal Access Home? Do you still have a trailer? Or store boat at your home?

I like visiting the Ft Myers area, and we thought about Cape Coral. Actually have a friend that bought a place in Cape Coral. After looking into the more local online discussions, I saw a lot of infrastructure concerns along with political infighting and high property taxes in that town that...

    Dog ladders?

Haha... I'm glad we got a MINI goldendoodle. I was looking at these a few weeks ago, NO THANKS. I can just help him up on the deck for $400 haha

Canal Access Home? Do you still have a trailer? Or store boat at your home?

Yeah I was convinced I wanted a canal home until I talked to several people who have lived there and boated. I was even told that you can join "boat clubs" down there and can schedule your pick of what kind of boat you want, and you don't have to actually own one. Want to go offshore fishing...

Canal Access Home? Do you still have a trailer? Or store boat at your home?

I thought I wanted a canal home but those I've talked to who have been there done that, say to reconsider. Disclaimer: I have been researching where I want to live on the coast, but this is second hand info. Why? First, canals are almost always in a flood zone/hurricane area with MUCH higher...

7 Thing that non boaters do that annoy us

I also don't expect or want money. If I'm going on the water, I'm going to be there burning the gas with or without any guests. I'd rather them bring plenty of drinks and food.
