    Replacing steering cables

Thanks for the advice, I changed the control cables out last year, what a difference it made!

    Replacing steering cables

Thank you Captainhook for the fast response. Those are the cables I was going to order, I just needed confirmation from a seasoned veteran that I was purchasing the correct cables. Any other suggestions about cable change out along with the ones posted previously that you might have would be...

    Replacing steering cables

I have seen a lot of the threads on this forum about replacing steering cables, including the 2008 230. I have a 2008 Limited S. What is the length of the cables, everything I have seen leads me to believe that both are 17 feet. Does anybody know the length? Thank you

    No reverse on port engnie.

I finally got to work on my boat today. I replaced the reverse cables on both drives, now shifting smoother than ever. I should have done this last year. It definatley was the reverse cable on the port drive, after I pulled it out it broke in 2 places. I would like to thank all the helpful...

    No reverse on port engnie.

Thanks, my first thought was a broken cable. Until I get the binnacle removed I do not think I will know for sure. Do you have any idea on how difficult it is to route the new cable?

    No reverse on port engnie.

Thanks for the advice, I will try that this afternoon. Any idea of where a shop manual is online (I have the PDF Owners Manual)?

    No reverse on port engnie.

Thanks for the reply, I tried that and was unable to move the bucket with little effort, I will try it again this afternoon to confirm it though.

    No reverse on port engnie.

I already tried that with the wife, to no avail. Thanks for the suggestion.

    No reverse on port engnie.

No resistance when I move the throttle in forward or reverse. The engine RPM's will increase (as they should), and I get forward motion. No recent steering mods. My guess would be a detached or severed cable. My hopes were that some one else might of had a similar problem and solved...

    No reverse on port engnie.

I have the Cobra jet fins. I inspected all the pivot points on both buckets, no rocks, nuts, bolts, or any apperant obstructions.

    No reverse on port engnie.

The port throttle moves much easier in reverse as well as forward, the gate is not moving, it remains in the forward position. The starborad throttle is firmer, and more dificult to move.

    No reverse on port engnie.

Out for a day on the water, slowly approaching an island to swim and picnic, ready to anchor, anchor out, started to back down and had no reverse on my port engine. Surprised me as I thought I was applying more throttle to go in reverse, the port bucket remained open in forward. Shut the port...

Trading my 2008 Yamaha in for a 2014

I boat in salt water, even using Salt Away and religiously flushing my engines after every outing salt, and sand build up can be a problem (and has been). The 1.8 ltr. engines have much larger ports in the water jackets around the cylinder, plus, the increase in power however slight would be...

Trading my 2008 Yamaha in for a 2014

Thanks for the input, good food for thought. If I could just get rid of my MR-1's and get two 1.8's in it I would be more inclined to keep it for a few more years.

Trading my 2008 Yamaha in for a 2014

I should be in the water with it this Saturday, providing the weather holds up. However, the value of my trade will also affect my decision. Thanks for your input.

Trading my 2008 Yamaha in for a 2014

Not to worry about your status here, any advice is helpful, especially from owners of later model boats, thanks!

Trading my 2008 Yamaha in for a 2014.

Thank you swatski, I will keep that in mind, although this is a Florida boat, so I am not too worried about water freezing in the tower tubes, but I will examine them as well.

Trading my 2008 Yamaha in for a 2014

I am thinking very seriously about trading my 2008 Yamaha 232 Limited in for a 2014 242 Limited S. Are there any known issues any one of you know about or have dealt with that I should be privy to before I pull the trigger? The dealer is asking 39K for it, with 213 hours on it. I have not looked...
