One more Cobra Jet Steering review

@14SX190 That’s the way to go for sure! So yesterday I was on the boat with a buddy and my wife and they both got tired of me saying how great the boat handled after the update :) I was expecting a subtle improvement but it really made a big difference. Couple of bonus items I didn’t expect -...

One more Cobra Jet Steering review

Just giving some feedback on the new steering system - I can’t believe that it has been over a year since I bought a Cobra Super Ultimate Steering kit from @Cobra Jet Steering LLC. The kit has been sitting in my garage while I tend to my other hobbies :) but got it on yesterday and finally got...

    Engine rumble/vibration on ‘06 SX230

Same thing’s happened to me before. Changed spark plugs and went away. I did inspect the pump etc also.

is it possible to convert snap in sea mat to glue down (like seadeck)?

There will always be space left unless it’s the surface you are considering is perfectly flat. So water and small stuff can get in, get trapped, and stink up eventually.

    Water in glove boxes

Hi Brad. Mine does too and there are no seals there from factory. The windshield helps but not in downpour+wind. A boat cover helps.

Want To Buy 230 series compass

Wouldn’t an aftermarket flush mount 12v light marine compass work for you guys or do you have to have the OEM? :)

    Starboard at 9600 rpm WOT

Here’s a good video though the location on my 06 is under the air filter housing iirc. The service manual has good maint procedure to adjust the gates within spec. You should still make sure they are good.

    Starboard at 9600 rpm WOT

I had something similar when I first got mine with the starboard engine a few years ago. I adjusted the throttle body cable, oil and spark plug change and it went back to where it should be.

Marine mat snap it install 2006 sx230

This looks really great! I really like the idea of snap-on style mats. I keep things pretty clean but dirt does tend to find it’s way under the stick-on mats and it seems impossible to clean completely. Do they have a snap-on option for the back or is that not a good idea for that area?

    Oil seal help needed

Popped the other pump out and to my surprise found the same silicone remnants though in 4 pieces :winkingthumbsup" at this point I l’m pretty convinced this is just bead of silicone used to seal off the rubber tube with the final through hull fitting. Even tried to stick it there and fit about...

    Oil seal help needed

So here are the markings: Left most from the splines blue tape is where the shaft exits the boat flush with the through hull fitting. Next on right and the tape mark is where the bearing housing back comes to transposed on the shaft: Filled it up and sprayed with water and got no leak. I’m...

    Oil seal help needed

So I had a few mins and went under to see if I can spot any seal damage whatsoever from roughly a foot away in that little hole :nailbiting: I can't see anything wrong with the outer seal lip. Not to say it it can't be there but I cannot see it. Even used a wire cloth hanger with taped q-tip at...

    Oil seal help needed

Thanks CJS! Bought it used. So yes, it crossed my mind it might be an attempt for repairing some leak somewhere in that area either by shady mechanic or previous owner. I'm trying to remain hopeful :( that it's just a bunch of silicone from sealing off the housing with the pipe the shaft goes...

    Oil seal help needed

Hi folks, Been busy several months since my wife and I were blessed with a baby daughter! That being said :) I finally had that chance to bring my boat to the house to see if I can get my hands on what I thought was a busted rubber seal on the intermediary bearing. So today I took the pump out...

    Oil seal help needed

Found a 2004 manual last year and have been using it since. It’s like this - they tell you “remove engine” :) and of course that’s described and all but I’ hoping it doesn’t get to that.

    Oil seal help needed

Thanks I will look in to it and I hope you are right. I need to tow the boat from the dry stack at the nearby marina this week and as soon as I do I can start measuring and planning. Kind of just getting emotionally prepared for now :( How much forward would the engine need to go? 3-4 inches or...
