    Seems like Limp Mode

Yeah, will replace this weekend. Just wondering if anyone has seen this. I'll report back.

    Seems like Limp Mode

So ran the boat today (2016 AR240) no issues. Got to the cove and anchored for a few hours. Went to start the port engine, it fired but immediately threw a code, cranked the starboard and it would not turn over. Switched to both batteries and it cranked for a while then started. Port engine...

    White Grease

Well nothing. Cleaned the area, ran the boat all day and no water or grease so it must have been there from day one. I will keep an eye on it but it appears to be a non-issue. Thanks for all the help.

    White Grease

Plan to take it out Sunday. If nothing leaks out then I will keep an eye on it. If only grease, will keep a closer eye. Any water and that will kill the summer.

    White Grease

That is the plan, not much I can really do but that, was hoping to hear good news like, ah thats common, you know stuff like that :)

    White Grease

I found a small amount of white grease in a nice little pile under my port intermediate bearing and a little on the face of the bearing near the bottom. It looks like and feels like assembly grease, I thought maybe marine grease mixed with water but I do not think so, looks old. I was asking...

    Air Filter

Year 6, filters are prestine. Is there a life expectancy on these? What I mean, can they eventually come apart and get ingested if left in too long? Should they eventually just be replaced to be safe? No big deal?

    Intermediate Bearing greasing

I am starting to think this is way overblown. I have not touched mine in 6 years with no issue. I have to think if this was so detrimental Yamaha would suggest a dealer do it. I suspect people are using the old rule of pump until you see grease and see killing seals. I plan to put a few pumps in...

    Intermediate Bearing greasing

    What is a few?

    Intermediate Bearing greasing

I have no hose so I have to use the force. Step one is pull the zerk and check grease condition.

    Intermediate Bearing greasing

I have no grease in there that I know of so I am assuming I need to get it greased first then use the gear lube during services. I was just not sure if you are only running gear lube, no grease, a combination etc.

    Intermediate Bearing greasing

Since I have never greased these, I will try the syringe method and see. Would hate to mess something up.

    Intermediate Bearing greasing

Are you mixing the gear lube with the grease or straight gear lube? Ratio?

    Intermediate Bearing greasing

Well famous last words :) But I can not see how this method would hurt. At the least I do not have a 100% perfect amount of grease in the space but I think I would rather under grease than kill my seals. My only concern is killing the fitting somehow.

    Intermediate Bearing greasing

I read every post I could find and what I am reading is simply remove the fitting, use some weed eater string to check the condition of the grease in that space then simply use a syringe to add grease and put the fitting back on. This method appears to remove the ability to over pressurize the...

    Intermediate Bearing greasing

I saw that but did not quite understand. Are you simply using a syringe and injecting through the fitting?

    Intermediate Bearing greasing

I know discussed in nauseum. Basically I never had this done or did it. I am at 6 years and no issues. So, should I now grease it or leave it be? I see so much about never doing it and see people who do it. Almost seems the risk of doing it wrong can be bad. I am doing my yearly maintenance...

    Found Bolt

Well I found nothing. I combed both motors. Yamaha numbers the bolt heads so that makes it easy. The only place I found these types of bolts are on the engine mounts to the hull and to the engine. I put my finger on each bolt. So I conclude it was dropped during construction and simply left...

Thanks for all the replies. More to follow I suppose.

I agree. I will comb the engine today and see.
