Need help - Lots of water draining from plug on '17 212X

Well, another new boating season and the leaking hull saga continues. I left my boat with a dealer in the Knoxville area for 2 weeks last Fall so that he could go through the boat thoroughly and reseal everything. I took the boat out once after I picked it up in the Fall before it had to be...

Wheel bearings: do them myself or pay someone?

I've trailered my 2017 for 4 seasons now. Each outing is generally ~2 hours roundtrip on the interstate and I hauled it 3 - 7 hour round trips this last season. With 4 seasons behind us, the tires need to be replaced and I'm wondering if it's time for the bearings to be replaced too. I check...

    Grease in trailer wheel bearings

Every time I stop while we're towing, I do this same thing. Keep in mind the rear hubs will generally be warm to hot because of the heat generated by the brakes. The hubs should never be so hot that you can't leave your finger on it without causing pain.

    Bearings

I bought a new Regal on a new custom trailer in 2014. When I left the dealership, I went to the 1st auto parts store to buy lockable lug nuts to prevent the nice rims on the trailer from being stolen at my marina. When I tried to remove the lug nuts in the parking lot of the auto parts store...

    212X tower lowering

I have always lowered the tower by myself on my ‘17 212X. It’s not hard, but it can be a little heavy. Just don’t let go of it. if you check out JetBoatPilot.com, I think they were researching and bringing to market some damper system for the towers.

    Trailer tire replacement

I'm in the same situation with my stock tires on my 2017 trailer. I have 3 more 230 mile trips coming up before the end of this season and am paranoid now about my stock bias tires. They've run really well for me, but I'm looking at radials now. Costco has Greenball Towmaster tires for only...

    Replacing my bunks

I replaced both forward bunks on my 2017 trailer a month ago because one of them broke. I was surprised to see how absolutely rotten the 2 boards were after only 3 years and the boat being stored in my garage the whole time. I used bought a pressure treated 2x8 and then painted it with the...

Anyone familiar with Greenball Towmaster ST Special Trailer Radial Tire

I have the original Carlisle Sport Trail LH Bias ST 215/75D14 tires on my 2017 Shoreland'r trailer and have been looking into replacements. I've had boats for a long time, but this is my first time replacing the trailer tires. I've been reading reviews and watching videos about the best tires...

What is growing on my bunks?

I have that same crap growing on my 2017 trailer's bunks. I believe it's a fungus that's rotting the wood out. One of my forward bunks is broken so I decided to replace both 7' forward bunks. That crap isn't growing on my stern-side bunks and they seem to be solid still. I'm really surprised...

Need help - Lots of water draining from plug on '17 212X

It’s not leaking from the anchor locker. At on point, I sealed it completely with caulking and it made no difference.

Need help - Lots of water draining from plug on '17 212X

Ok, look. You bought a brand new boat. It is under warranty. Why would you feel compelled to diagnose and fix this yourself? That's what the warranty is for. You're spending your valuable time and more money fixing someone else's problem and could risk voiding your warranty. I'm in the...

Need help - Lots of water draining from plug on '17 212X

    1. Keep your batteries turned on when the boat is floating in the water. When batteries are off, bilge pump gets no power. My boat was floating in a slip for a week last month during vacation with no issues with running the batteries down. When batteries are turned on, the boat cycles the...

    Still leaking

All Yamahas have a self-bailing deck, meaning the water is dumped overboard via a hose through the engine compartment from the deck. No water from the deck goes into the hull, so it doesn't matter if you have a dripping wet army march across your boat, that water isn't going into the bilge.

    Still leaking

I had an 18' and 19' Regal with V6 VP I/O and those boats might give me a cup of water, after being in the lake all weekend. The Yamaha boats have a self-bailing deck, meaning water doesn't drain to the bilge, so I'm not buying that argument. A bilge pump is there for insurance, in case...

    Still leaking

Same deal with my '17 212X. It's been to the dealer a bunch of times and all the usual stuff has been looked at. They worked on it extensively last Fall before the boat's big nap. First time out this year, TONS of water drained from the hull, which made for an embarrassing scene at the boat...

how every secure their floating mat while in transit

I have a 6x15 mat that we take for every outing. While trailering, it fits in the isle way of my 21' boat, between the captain's chairs. I send a dock line from one of the front cleats through the middle of the mat coil and tie the other end to one of the captain's chairs set bases, so it...

    Hauling bikes while towing boat?

That's exactly what I envisioned, but there's not enough room between the tailgate and winch stand for me to execute turns without pinching the bike between tailgate and/or the boat. I think I will have to look at a front mounted receiver.

    Hauling bikes while towing boat?

I'd need a 3' extension to come off the frame behind the boat, so that's probably not an option. There's not enough space to mount on the front side of the trailer between the winch stand and the tailgate - the tailgate will strike the bikes in a mild turn. I'll try to find a receiver for the...

    Hauling bikes while towing boat?

That's a really good idea on mounting on the bow-side of the boat trailer. I only have 2' 3" from the winch stand to the hitch. I'm not sure that'll work for me, but I'll definitely give it look!

    Hauling bikes while towing boat?

Hey everyone. My kids like to ride their bikes when vacationing. For the 1st time, we're taking our boat to a lake house 3 hours away and I'd like to take the kids' bikes too. I have a hitch mount bike rack, but I'll obviously have my boat using the truck's hitch. Is there any way to use the...
