    Battery Charger

When I connected and turned on my trickle charger, the battery relay started a repetitive click and hum, and the relay red light came on. This didn’t seem right so I turned off the charger. Is this normal or what did I do wrong? Thanks for your help!

    Another oil cooler bolt sheared

Since both of my number three bolts sheared but neither cooler is leaking, do I replace the two bolts and hope it holds for a good amount of time, or do I go ahead and replace both Coolers? Is it a foregone conclusion that both will start leaking by say around 200 Hours? I'm around 90 hours now.

    Cooling water impellar replacement

Dang. Thanks for the heads up on the oil coolers. Sure enough, both my number 3 bolts are missing. There is a miniscule bit of oil on the bottom of each but that may be a remnant from the last filter change. I'm not quite yet at 100 hours. I'll clean the bottom of each and then monitor them.

    Cooling water impellar replacement

Thanks everyone for help and explanations. I'll watch for any overheating issues but when running it normally for almost a week after the overheating incident I had no problem. I feel better now!

    Cooling water impellar replacement

I see the screen now. So the next step is to check/clean the screen by accessing it from the outside as shown in the picture? Thinking back on my brief conversation with my mechanic who is very fair and honest I think he was probably thinking about my Bayliner not my jet boat.

    Cooling water impellar replacement

The boat was previously owned in Wisconsin and is super clean with no sign of salt water useage. No rust on the clamps and both pee holes are pumping water fine. The only time it showed over heating was at the dock after about ten/fifteen minutes and when I winterized it in the driveway as I...

    Cooling water impellar replacement

Thanks for the insight McMark So where or how does water get circulated without impellars? Here in the picture is what I assume is the water intake which is clear.

    Cooling water impellar replacement

My boat mechanic says that my starboard engine is overheating with extended idling because the rubber impellar needs to be replaced. I have no idea how old it is as I got the boat used. At speed or short idling periods it runs fine. Is it a big deal to replace them? I have pulled the drive...

    Jet drive disassembly

Thanks for the thoughts on Threadlocker. Since they stay put, I'll go with anti seize. How many ft lbs of torque do I use when tightening them down? When I pulled them, they were super tight. Thanks!

    Jet drive disassembly

When reassembling, how much torque do I use when tightening the four large bolts? I sucked up a piece of wood, but I got it fixed no big deal and put everything back together. Works great. BUT, how much torque do I use? Should I also put the removable type threadlocker on the threads? I'm...

How stiff are the throttles on these boats

My throttles are tight too, and that is ok, but I have a different throttle issue. I can move my starboard throttle forward and it stays put, but my port won't hold rpm when i advance it say from 5000 to 6000. The rpm goes up to 6000, and when I let go of the throttle, it goes back to 5000. To...

    Retrieving my 242

Thanks Julian; posts were going to be my next investment. At least they will help it stay centered. I like your boat name!

    Retrieving my 242

I recently bought my 242, and its a great boat. It's easy to launch but retrieving is another matter. I had a Bayliner 175 for years and was a master at getting back on the trailer but I can't master the 242. The manual says to have about 3" of the trailer out of the water, and when I do that I...
