New 2024 AR220 owner with question about engine idle at dock

You’re right that there’s not a true idle but there’s minimal wandering in my experience. So you should be able to run the engines a bit if you want although I don’t warm mine up for very long at all. I’ve never seen any posts suggesting that warming up for more than a few seconds is necessary...

A look inside the Yamaha boat building process in Japan.

Very interesting, didn’t even know Yamaha made these kinds of boats. Much less automated than I would have guessed.

    Minor Tornado Damage

Yikes, glad it's pretty minor, looking at the building could have been a lot worse

    Mini Jet boat (kit) questions?

What about a small jet boat? I have 2009 Sea Doo Sportster 15’. Works quite well and tops out at around 40-42. That’s the smaller engine so you could get a bigger one if you want. They’re supercharged though I think so be careful.

    Sometimes, I miss my trim.

That’s a great picture Jeff. Now I realize why the water between the wakes is rough when I’m slaloming. I love the pull from the Yamaha but otherwise I prefer skiing behind my old Chaparral stern drive. I can also use the trim to make the wake a little smaller.

    Starting Issue, Needs Troubleshooting

Glad to hear. I’m curious, how much did it cost?

    Starting Issue, Needs Troubleshooting

Jeff’s suggestion is a good one. I’ve used the jumper cable approach. Very easy to do. Good luck.

    Starting Issue, Needs Troubleshooting

Does the engine have a starter solenoid? Sometimes it attached to the started motor and sometimes it’s elsewhere. If you turn the key and hear a click and need to do this several times before the starter engages, it could be a sign the solenoid is bad. Or possibly the wire connections are...

Securing a trailered boat on the street

Tough choice. if it’s not practical to redo your driveway, I’d probably go the neighbor.com route.

    For the battery experts… Lithium??

Great info @FSH 210 Sport. My original batteries will be 6 years old in the spring and while they work fine, I’m thinking I should replace them soon. If you were me, what would you do? Still LFP for the house and AGM for the starting? No significant mods except for 3 amps and 2 bilge pumps. Thx

Thoughts on storing boat outside or covered

I’ve store an old boat (1995 Chaparral) outside one winter and I’d say it’s not ideal. Not sure if this is possible for you but I store my boats at the local county fairgrounds. They use the barns for the county fair and the only criteria is you need to get the boats out by late April. Charge...

    Swimmer safety with steering mods

This is probably obvious but even though there’s no prop, the jet thrust is dangerous so don’t let people swim with the engines running. I had somebody try and tell me it was safe…

    Swimmer safety with steering mods

Been using one for years, no issues. The one I use isn’t sharp and doesn’t move so very safe in my experience

    Battery - Charger Recommendations

If you’re storing for 3 months and can’t leave it in your driveway overnight, I’d take the batteries out and leave them plugged into a trickle charger the whole time. I use the ProMariner ProSport 12 A 2 bank charger which charges both batteries at the same time. Been doing this every winter...

Did the Cobra steering but around the docks not so good... (my fault)

Is this this your first jet boat? It does take a while to get used to docking. One thing I’ve been doing is approaching the dock at 45 degrees and then reversing pretty hard and turning the wheel as I get close to the dock. The other trick people have suggested is to keep it in no wake mode...

I decided on speakers and sub for AR250 - what tuner and amp or amps?

Interesting. Never heard of NVX. Are they truly marine grade like JL or pretend like my Polks? Polks sound decent but they can’t handle the moisture. How would NVX compare with JL?
