    Chaparral known defect; Worth pursuing?

Having been told by Chaparral that they wouldn’t be giving me a replacement model they then suggested I contact one of the Chaperral dealers to order a (very expensive) new one. I asked who the top dealers were and she (the head of sales lady) provided me with the top 3 dealers in the US. I...

vortex / rotax engines wouldn't fire, then did. fault code 0300

For those that are interested U0300 fault code means that the engine security code has not been entered correctly. With that fault code the engines will turn over but there will be no ignition, therefore the engines will never start.

    stern anchor

I use a 4kg ( a little over 8lbs) Danforth anchor for the stern and it works just fine. I did try a 2 kg Danforth - it was only slightly smaller - but it didn't work. So I use that one now as a garden ornament :shamefullyembarrased:

Hose blocking auto bilge float switch

Thought I'd share this with you all, certainly something to be aware of… We use the boat in sea water so it takes quite a bit of fresh water (and saltaway) to wash down the boat afterwards. The boat sits pretty flat on the trailer usually, so having finished washing I cranked up the trailer a...

    Chaparral known defect; Worth pursuing?

No wonder the lady at head office was so cheery and pleasant in denying my request. Looks like I'll just have to take the hit and move on. Many thanks for the considered replies. Happy boating!

    Chaparral known defect; Worth pursuing?

Hi. I posted a couple of months or so ago about the problems I was experiencing with the Medallion touchscreen display in my 2015 Chaparral 223 VRX. Long story short : I have it in writing from Chaparral that the problem with the screen is a known problem common to the early Medallion units...

    2015 223 VRX with 50 hrs - pre buy

So, I went ahead and bought it. The pre buy inspection came up with the usual suspects - carbon seals, exhaust O2 sensors and steering cable needing replacement. I decided to have it repainted as well. It's probably not to the purists liking but I'm happy with it.

Many thanks guys, a 223vrx has fallen into my lap, top of the line model, so, Inspection going well, I'll be posting on the Chaparral pages. I've posted on there for any suggestions regarding things to look for in particular during the pre-buy inspection. .. rotax and jet pump specific. Any...

Hi there, I'm in the process of buying a fully loaded 2015 250hp 223 vrx with 50 hours Anything in particular you recommend I look for during the inspection tomorrow. I'm also taking it to the service centre for a mechanical inspection. I've seen/read the stories here about carbon rings and...

Thanks everyone for the replies. Seems to be a consistent theme and general consensus regarding the 2014 models. Nice idea Ronnie but in all fairness to you yours will probably be too much for me.

Hi, my next boat will be a jetboat and while researching all the options discovered this website. Having read through many excellent posts/observations I've reached the conclusion that a) I like the Scarab, and b) it will be more sensible for me to go for the 215 instead of the 195. I've...
