I bought a spool of duplex 16 AWG tinned wire on Amazon, and when I received it, it says speaker wire. Can this be used for any primary circuit requiring 16 AWG wire? It's 64 strand. I have done a lot of automotive electrical in my time, but I don't know squat about audio. Thanks you

Basically wire is wire...for power runs of 10ft you can pump about 5 amps through 16 gauge without issue. Speakers have higher voltages and lower current than 12v power requirements so there are differences there, but any 16 gauge stranded copper wire will be essentially the same. So if you need to wire up a 12v device, like say a chartplotter for instance, mine is rated 2.5a max so it would be just fine for that.

I already used it and it worked great.
