Bought a boat with a seized (broke loose after cooling down) Mercury 2.5 175 Sport Jet. Thought I would try here for parts as they seem to be scarce. Need a good crankshaft (mine can not be repaired) or a complete powerhead. EVERY place I called does not have a good crankshaft or complete unit. Anybody got one?

Yeah, not so much. Ordered one from Crowley because the ‘inventory check’ said they had one. Got refunded the next day so I called them. Nada.
Bought another from someone else. Same deal. Refunded the next day. Just started calling after that. NOBODY has one, but they ‘might’ be able to rebuild mine if I send it in. Except my crankshaft is bad, and nobody has a used one of those either. The ‘rebuilt’ ones on the ‘interwebs’? Well, they don’t actually exist either.
All good though because I just bought a brand new crankshaft ($2200) and am taking the block down to be bored Tuesday. Bearings and rebuild kit will be ordered when I verify the bore size.
It will be nice and new!

Mercury has brand new ones still in stock.
Seems people don't want to spend $2200-$2700 for a new crankshaft on a 20 year old motor.
