2017 242 Limited S problem

Glad I found this site, already have learned a lot just by reading people’s post. I love my Yamaha but just recently developed a problem. This is my second season with this boat and recently started getting GPS communication error and lose my spedo and an alarm sounds. Then for whatever reason will start working again out of the blue or if I shut the boat off for a while it usually works again. Never had a single problem until recently.

Any suggestions on what to check?

I would check behind the helm for lose connections.

As mentioned check the conmections. Also bring a multimeter with you and take direct voltage readings from the batteries when this happens again. Low voltage is a very common cause of nmea (how the boat gets the gps signal from the gps receiver) issues.
