Hi guys this is my first post on here I'm having issues with my 2018 yamaha waverunner ex

Starts up great once I go to take off and press the throttle down it revs to about 6000 rpms and I can't get past 14 mph there is a check engine light on and the warning light is flashing but I was told the warning light is flashing because of the reverse not working any help or suggestions at all would be appreciated thank you

either cavitation or your reverse bucket is part way down

Okay thank you I'll have a look at that is there an easy way to check the reverse bucket

ok I am now leaning more toward cavitation being your problem, if the reverse bucket is up and not blocking any of the water exiting the nozzle it is fine ,, I would be focusing on the intake grate and the pump for obstructions because even a small piece of fishing line in the pump will cause cavitation but for the ski to only hi 14 mph I would be looking for a lot of weeds or similar obstructions.
