Travelling for work week after next. Will be in Montreal for 3 days including a Friday night.

I know absolutely ZERO about Montreal, or Canada in general. This is the first time I've traveled into Canada as well (been to Mexico a few times). So go easy on me for being an international travelling noob!

Do I need to get local currency?
Is the primary language still English, or should I learn some French?
What part of town should I stay in?
Do I need anything special to rent a car?
Should I rent a car, or just Uber/Taxi everywhere?
Anything I should definitely do while there?
Anything to especially avoid?
Any other tips/tricks/thoughts?

I was just in Montreal a few weeks back for business.

-Canadian dollars will make your spending easier. While USD will be accepted at most places it probably won't be a good exchange rate.
-You can get by no problem with English alone
-If you can stay downtown, that's where the action is. Depending on where you are going to be working though. Traffic in Montreal is a nightmare so plan your commute accordingly.
-I wouldn't rent a car unless you have to. Stick with Uber/taxi
-If you do rent a car, there is a law on the island of montreal that it is illegal to turn right on a red stop light.

As for things to do, there is lots available. Like I said the downtown is where the action is. Lots of history down there also.
There is a big casino if you are into gambling. Check out Schwartz's deli for an authentic Montreal smoked meat sandwich.

Its a good city. Most people are friendly.
Enjoy your stay.
Let me know if you need anything else.
