I have the same boat. Make sure that your bilge is set to "auto" (I think blue) in the Connext. I think that On is green, and this setting may keep the pump running.

If you are setting it to auto (blue) and it kicks on and stays on, there may be something stuck in the pump. The way the pump works is it keeps trying to pump until it doesn't feel any back pressure. If there is something stuck in the pump, it thinks of this as back pressure and keeps on pumping.

So stand on your head, reach down to the pump and there are plastic tabs on either side.....press them in and lift the pump off its base and see if the impeller spins freely. Test it will disconnected. If it keeps running while set to auto (blue light), and there is nothing in the pump....sounds like the sensor is bad....need a new pump.

Pulled it and impeller spins. Must just need a new one! Will get a new one. Stupid me didn't even pay attention to how simple they are to look at once you reach down there! Thanks again.

The pump itself is a dump 12v DC motor. It is the SPU that sends power to it at timed intervals and measures current draw to determine if it should cut power to the pump. There are a few reasons why a pump would draw more than nominal current. The first of which @Julian already pointed out and does not seem to be the culprit. The second could be poor connections in the wiring so I would recommend checking those before replacing the pump. The rest are related to the inner workings of a copper wound brushed DC motor in which case just replace the pump.

Now if the pump is replaced, the exit line is clear, and all of the connections/wiring are good but this still happens then it is the SPU which would not be common.

Good luck and please do update us.

Huh....I wouldn't have thought they would have bothered building this into the SPU but rather left it built into the pump from the manufacturer....

Two wire pump with both auto and manual. Could be an electrical resistance thing to seperate out full on and auto. A couple of things I have observed tell me it is the SPU however. I happened to see a light eminate from the SPU when the bilge turns on when on auto and watching the current draw in Connext sys screen when it happens.

Installed the new bilge pump and everything is running normal! Thanks guys!

Just had an issue with mine today. Pump doesn’t empty any water. I can hear it whining and then it quits but my bilge is full of water. The connext screen turns green as if it’s pumping, then flashes red, then turns off.

Any one have a clue what might be happening?

Also, I live pretty far from a Yamaha dealer. Can I get it worked on under warranty from a non Yamaha dealer?

Mine was doing the same thing. You can pull it out and check to make sure nothings clogging it. Two blue tabs on it just push and pull. If it's not clogged just google the model #. I didn't want to waste time going to the dealer for such a cheap and easy part to fix.

Yup....what @Just1more said....pull the pump and make sure the impeller is spinning freely. If it is, then turn it on while you have it off and see if it spins under power. If it does, then see if the hose is clogged or kinked.

Got it fixed. Pulled it out (so to speak) and flushed it with a garden hose. Reinstalled, turned it back on, and a bunch of leaves blew out the side drain. Thanks for the help.

That was a nice easy fix.
